On March 28, the Vietnam Journalists Association coordinated with the Binh Phuoc Provincial Journalists Association to organize the 3rd Southeast Region Press Awards 2025.
Mr. Phan Toan Thang, Chief of Office of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Head of the Organizing Committee, assessed that the 3rd Southeast Region Press Award in 2025 is a very meaningful professional activity, organized closely, scientifically and professionally to honor excellent press works, reflecting truthfully and vividly the achievements of socio-economic development, national defense-security, culture-sports of the Southeast region.
This is also an opportunity for journalists, reporters, and editors in the region to exchange, learn experiences, and improve their professional qualifications and skills.
This year, the Organizing Committee received nearly 200 works from press agencies in Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Dong Nai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Thuan and resident reporters of central and Ho Chi Minh City press agencies in the region to participate in the award, thereby showing the strong attraction of the award and the interest and positive response of journalist members, press agencies and the Journalists Association in the region.
The work of receiving works and organizing the award ceremony is conducted seriously, objectively, impartially, modernly and professionally.
The final jury judged 80 outstanding works selected from the preliminary round; the Steering Committee decided to award 2 First prizes, 4 Second prizes, 6 Third prizes, and 10 Encouragement prizes in 4 categories (Printed Newspaper, Electronic Newspaper, Radio and Television).
In particular, in the Print and Electronic Newspaper category, the 4-part series "Dong Nai pioneers in building green, smart factories" by the group of authors Vuong Van The, Nguyen Thi Huong Giang, Nguyen Thi Lien, Dong Nai Newspaper was awarded First Prize.
Radio-Television category, 4-part reportage "Child labor - From law to practice," author group Bui Thi Tham, Phan Xuan Truong, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Radio-Television Station won First Prize.
VNA reporters from the Southeast region won second prize with a series of four articles "Southeast creates a launching pad to enter a new era" by a group of authors, Duong Chi Tuong, Nguyen Cong Phong, Nguyen Vu Thanh Dat, Huynh Ngoc Son, Chau Giang Phuong, and Nhat Binh.
Journalist Nguyen Khac Van, Deputy Editor-in-Chief in charge of Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper and Chairman of the Jury, assessed that many award-winning works had high discovery value, rich sources of documents and unique perspectives, contributing to creating healthy competition among authors, while raising professional standards of regional journalism.
Besides the usual socio-economic topics, many works focus on exploiting everyday stories rich in humanity or less-noticed issues such as preserving ethnic minority culture, sustainable development and the environment.
For the Radio category, although the number of participating works is not large, the works still closely follow "hot" current issues that are of public interest, such as Party building, streamlining the apparatus, studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, digital transformation and other social issues.
Many works are carefully invested in content and form, applying modern radio style, distributed on multiple platforms, ensuring authenticity and objectivity. Some outstanding works have recorded and vividly reflected advanced examples, contributing to spreading good examples in the community.
In the television genre, the number of entries this year has slightly decreased compared to last season, but the quality has improved, with diverse topics, close to reality and bringing many new perspectives.
Some works demonstrate innovation in production thinking, meeting the requirements of modern television. However, the short reportage genre - which has great appeal to audiences - has not received adequate investment.
Many works still suffer from shortcomings such as conventional expression, uncreative language, or inappropriate voice.
To raise the level of the award in the future, Chairman of the Jury Nguyen Khac Van suggested that works should focus more on diversity, modernize the way of expression and invest thoroughly in both content and technique.
At the Award Ceremony, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Phuoc Province Tran Tuyet Minh hoped that in the coming time, news agencies and press will continue to accompany, care for and support the province in carrying out communication work, introducing achievements in socio-economic development; promoting the image of the homeland, land and people of Binh Phuoc.
The province will create all favorable conditions for press agencies to operate effectively, in accordance with their principles and purposes, and to promote their roles and missions.
On this occasion, journalist Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association and Head of the Steering Committee of the award, launched the 4th Southeast Region Press Award in 2026.
The Lao Dong Newspaper presented 2,000 national flags from the “Proud of the National Flag” program to Binh Phuoc province to create a national flag line in the area; and awarded 50 study support scholarships to disadvantaged students and ethnic minority students at Phu Trung Primary and Secondary School (Phu Rieng commune, Phu Rieng district, Binh Phuoc province).
The Vietnam Rubber Industry Group sponsored the program, and the Vietnam Traffic Safety Association presented 300 helmets to the award-winning journalists./.
