At the forum "Improving National Labor Productivity by 2024" held this morning (May 26), right after listening to comments and discussions at the forum, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh summarized 6 common points on increasing labor productivity (NSLD) in the current period.
Specifically, they are: Loving the profession, loving work; Always learning, improving knowledge and skills; Complying with discipline on occupational safety and hygiene and building a healthy and equal working environment; Always innovating and creating;
Workers must be treated fairly in terms of material and spiritual benefits, especially wages and social welfare, and be rewarded and honored; the Government, Trade Unions and relevant entities must build a good labor ecosystem.
“Throughout, people are the center and the subject of increasing labor productivity. People are both the resource, the driving force and the target of development and increasing labor productivity. We do not sacrifice social progress and equity, social security, or the environment to pursue mere growth,” Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized.
According to the Prime Minister, labor productivity is a comprehensive economic indicator of special significance - one of the most important measures to evaluate and compare the level of development between countries, as well as between sectors and localities within each country.

The Prime Minister affirmed that our Party and State always pay special attention to labor productivity and focus on solutions to increase labor productivity. Increasing social labor productivity is one of the main targets set in the Resolution of the Party Congress.
According to the Prime Minister, in the coming time, the international situation is forecast to continue to develop rapidly, complicatedly and unpredictably.
In general, there is peace but there is war in some areas; there is peace but there is tension in some areas; there is stability but there is conflict in some areas. The world economy is facing headwinds for development.
Meanwhile, our country still faces difficulties and challenges due to a long period of war devastation. It is a developing country with a transitional economy, modest in scale, low starting point, limited internal capacity, low resilience and competitiveness, and high openness, so it is subject to many impacts and influences from external factors.
In the context of increasingly fierce competition, while the fourth industrial revolution and science and technology are developing explosively and changing every day, improving labor productivity has become a very important and vital issue for all countries, especially developing countries, including Vietnam.

Faced with the above reality, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested ministries, agencies and localities to fully synthesize recommendations, proposals and suggestions from union members and workers; focus on reviewing and absorbing as much as possible to perfect mechanisms, policies and related legal regulations and improve the effectiveness of implementation.
Propose that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor study, absorb and have specific solutions for opinions related to functions, tasks and authority for implementation in the coming time; create the best ecological environment for workers to promote creativity, innovation, patriotism and love for the profession.
The Prime Minister also requested the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, all union members, workers, trade unions at all levels, the business community, ministries, branches and localities to join hands to focus on implementing: 3 promotion, 3 pioneering, 3 breakthroughs to contribute to promoting labor productivity growth.

In which, some key contents are focused such as prioritizing growth promotion - considering this as the foundation for increasing labor productivity (based on the formula: Social labor productivity = GDP/Average labor in the year). In which, it is noted to be associated with macroeconomic stability, inflation control, and ensuring major balances.
Promote the implementation of strategic breakthroughs in institutions, infrastructure, especially human resources associated with science, technology and innovation.
Focus on improving the quality of education, training and vocational training at all levels, grades, sectors and fields, ensuring the training of human resources with reasonable quality, quantity and structure.
Along with that is promoting the transformation of labor structure from informal to formal, from low-productivity agriculture to higher-productivity industry and service sectors.
Promote industrialization and modernization; increase the proportion of industrial, service and agricultural industrialization sectors.
Finally, we must take care of and ensure the legitimate rights and interests of workers in terms of treatment, wages, social welfare, healthcare, culture, education, sports, especially housing, and effectively implement the program to build 1 million social housing apartments .
