Promoting innovative startup ecosystem

NDO - After 9 years of organization, Techfest Vietnam has become an important event, attracting the attention of policy-making agencies, managers, corporations, enterprises, creative startup support organizations, domestic and international investment funds... at the same time connecting domestic and international resources for the Vietnamese creative startup ecosystem, contributing to affirming Vietnam's position on the global creative startup map.

On November 21, the Ministry of Science and Technology coordinated with the People's Committee of Hai Phong City to hold a press conference to inform about the Techfest Vietnam 2024 event. This is an annual event chaired by the Ministry of Science and Technology, in coordination with ministries, branches, localities, and socio-political organizations.

Techfest Vietnam 2024 with the spirit of "Joining hands to develop Vietnam's creative startup ecosystem" aims to introduce, inspire and honor outstanding achievements of creative startup activities in businesses and the whole society; summarize and evaluate the 10-year journey of forming a creative startup ecosystem and orient the development of the ecosystem in the new period; create momentum for economic and social development of Vietnam in general and Hai Phong in particular from creative startup activities.

Through the event, it also promotes the ability to attract technology startups, technology human resources, investment funds, domestic and international experts; introduces to the domestic and international creative startup community about the dynamic, developing, pioneering Hai Phong city in promoting creative startups; creates a friendly, favorable environment, promotes and supports the process of forming and developing types of businesses with the ability to grow rapidly based on exploiting intellectual property, technology, and new business models.

The event was attended by leaders of the Party and State, representatives of ministries, departments, branches and localities; representatives of leaders of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, departments and branches of Hai Phong city; representatives of diplomatic agencies, international organizations in Vietnam; representatives of leaders of corporations, general companies, research institutes, universities; representatives of organizations in the creative startup ecosystem, investment funds, investors, accompanying consultants; creative startup businesses; speakers, technology experts, domestic and international innovation experts...

The series of events takes place over 3 days (from November 26-28, 2024) in Hai Phong city with many activities including: Techfest 2024 opening ceremony, High-level policy dialogue forum, Exhibition of innovative startup products/services, In-depth seminars on developing innovative startup ecosystems, Investment connection, Vietnam Innovative Startup Talent Search Competition...

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Hoang Minh said that in recent times, Vietnam's innovative startup ecosystem has developed strongly, creating a new generation of businesses based on intellectual property and capable of accessing the global market. In 2024, Vietnam's innovative startup ecosystem ranked 56th in Startup Blink's Global Startup Ecosystem Index, with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City among the top 200 global startup cities.

Since 2017, Vietnam's Global Innovation Index (GII) has continuously improved, rising from 59th place (in 2016) to 44th place in 2024. Vietnam's GII 2024 results have 3 leading indicators in the world, including for the first time the Creative Goods Export Index.

Techfest Vietnam 2024 is an opportunity for agencies, organizations and individuals to meet with senior leaders of Vietnam, policy-making agencies and managers to learn about mechanisms, policies and investment opportunities in Vietnam; meet with Vietnamese and foreign enterprises operating in Vietnam, organizations and individuals starting creative businesses in Vietnam to seek cooperation and investment opportunities; connect and seek resources and partners to implement initiatives to promote the creative startup ecosystem at home and abroad; introduce technology, products and services, and seek investment and business opportunities in Vietnam.
