That is the football team of Saigon Polytechnic College, Ho Chi Minh City. Up to now, among the total number of football teams participating in the 2nd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2024, this is the first name to have completed the procedures to submit full team documents, paid the deposit... and the necessary procedures to officially participate in the attractive student football playground organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper and the Vietnam Football Federation.
On the morning of November 4, sharing with Thanh Nien Newspaper reporter, Mr. Nguyen Viet Sang, head coach of the team said: "We have known and followed the first Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament with all strong teams registered, the teams are strong in experience, potential, and training time, that is why the school team is hesitant to participate.
University students study for 4 or 5 years, but we are a college, they study for more than 2 years and then do an internship, graduate, the time spent at school cannot be as long as those in colleges. But the first tournament was so successful, so attractive, our students were very eager, always wanting to participate, experience in such interesting playgrounds. So in the second season, although we were hesitant, we were still determined to register to participate," Coach Sang added.
The Saigon Polytechnic College football team is practicing on Thursday and Sunday afternoons to prepare for the tournament.
Talking about the reason for completing the registration procedures early, submitting documents and becoming the first and fastest team among the teams nationwide, Coach Nguyen Viet Sang said that this is one of the team's "tactics" - once each step is completed, rest assured about that step. The rest is for the team to practice with peace of mind and devote all their time and effort to prepare thoroughly for the tournament.
Exercise at noon to avoid heat stroke
Follow Thanh Nien football tournament The first Vietnamese students of 2023 are very careful and also know the schedule of matches in the qualifying round of the second Vietnamese Youth Student Football Tournament of 2024. When the matches are in the afternoon and evening slots, in hot weather, the football team of Saigon Polytechnic College is also having the players practice from 10 am to 12 pm. Practice 2 sessions per week, on Thursday and Sunday, on rented artificial turf fields in Binh Thanh and Go Vap districts (HCMC). The team has practiced 6 sessions.
Head coach Nguyen Viet Sang said: "We know that when entering the tournament, the players will compete at noon or early afternoon. Letting the players get used to the weather is also a way for them to gradually get used to it and not get heat shock. We clearly determined that once we decided to compete, we must be patient and overcome many different challenges."

To select 23 excellent players to represent Saigon Polytechnic College to participate in the 2nd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2024, Head Coach Nguyen Viet Sang said that the school organized a student football tournament in the school, selecting players with good physical strength and technique. The team is mainly composed of first-year students, some of whom have participated in local football tournaments during their high school years.
Being a "young" team in many aspects, this was the first time the school team participated in a large-scale 11-a-side football tournament like the Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament, so according to head coach Nguyen Viet Sang, in the first training sessions, the players were still confused. Many of them had mainly played football on a 5-a-side field, so playing on an 11-a-side field still did not have the mindset to play football, and could not control their positions. However, to be successful with anything takes time.

The football team of Saigon Polytechnic College has the support and encouragement of teachers who love football. In particular, the principal - Dr. Hoang Van Phuc. Dr. Phuc used to be very passionate about amateur football in Ho Chi Minh City and is still passionate about the sports movement.

Notably, this year, accompanying Coach Sang to lead the Saigon Polytechnic College football team, supporting the team in professional and physical work is Coach Huynh Minh Cuong. Mr. Cuong used to be a player of the U.17 Ho Chi Minh City team, and is currently a physical education lecturer at an academy in Ho Chi Minh City.
