According to the Yen Bai Department of Transport, National Highway 32 through Khao Mang and Ho Bon communes, Mu Cang Chai district has been opened to traffic, but trucks over 3.5 tons and cars over 9 seats are still banned.

Over 380 km long, National Highway 32 is a vital route connecting Hanoi with the provinces of Phu Tho, Yen Bai, and Lai Chau. Since August 5, heavy rains have occurred in Mu Cang Chai district, causing flash floods and landslides along about 9 km of National Highway 32, blocking more than 100 points, making it impossible for vehicles to pass.

Currently, National Highway 279 - the vital route connecting 10 mountainous provinces - is still cut off by landslides in Muong La district, Son La province. Son La Department of Transport said that although many machines and human resources have been mobilized, due to the large volume of landslides, the route is expected to be open to traffic on August 13.

On Highway 279D, the most severe damage was about 300m of the section passing through the Huoi Quang Hydropower Plant in Muong La District (Son La). A large amount of the slope collapsed, burying and damaging the road surface. Vehicles have been unable to travel from the center of Muong La District, Son La Province to Than Uyen District, Lai Chau Province and vice versa since the morning of August 6.

Heavy rains also caused some culverts on the national highway to be flooded. National Highway 3B through Trang Dinh District, Lang Son Province currently has two culverts, Vang Ma and Pac Dao, that are heavily flooded, sometimes up to 1.8 m deep. This section of the road is expected to be opened to traffic on the afternoon of August 11.

Since the end of July, due to the influence of low pressure, the North has been continuously raining, many places exceeding 200 mm in 24 hours. Heavy rains caused landslides, flash floods, 11 people died due to floods, landslides, hundreds of houses were damaged, many roads were seriously damaged, and traffic was cut off.
