On the morning of April 18, in her closing speech at the 22nd session of the 10th term of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, term 2021-2026, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Nguyen Thi Le praised the delegates for actively participating in discussing, analyzing, clarifying key issues and passing 17 resolutions, including 8 resolutions related to the work of arranging and streamlining the apparatus; 9 resolutions related to the fields of economy , budget, culture - society, urban areas, and law, contributing to perfecting the legal basis for the City People's Committee to direct the organization and implementation to successfully complete the goals and tasks of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in 2025.

He welcomed and highly appreciated the proactiveness of districts in selecting and naming wards and communes when merging in association with local historical and cultural sites. Districts and communes have also listened to and accepted people's opinions to make decisions that are in line with the people's wishes, including the idea of ​​naming Saigon in a central ward of the city, where many symbolic works are concentrated. According to him, this is a way to preserve and honor the historical name, which is a symbol of Ho Chi Minh City, because Saigon appeared in the 17th century, closely associated with the formation and development of the Southern region, bearing the mark of the period when the Vietnamese people opened up the land.

“For many Vietnamese people, no matter where they go or where they live, Saigon is not just a name. Having a ward named Saigon is not only to remind, remember, and honor historical heritage, but also a cultural highlight that attracts tourists from near and far, especially when Saigon is widely known on the international tourism map, it will contribute significantly to building the brand of Ho Chi Minh City,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Le.
