In 2025, Mrs. Margaret Cameron turned 100 years old. Her birthday was held at Cathkin House Nursing Home (UK) with the participation of relatives and friends.

According to Mirror , Mr. Cameron was born in East Glasgow in 1925 and grew up in a large family with his parents and five sisters.

As an adult, Mr Cameron married his sweetheart, Bill Cameron, on Boxing Day 1947.

The couple built a happy life together, raising five children in Bridgeton before settling in Cranhill.

After the war, Mr Cameron worked in the accounts department of McKellar Watts, a famous sausage manufacturing company.

Cameron retired at 58 but maintained an active lifestyle. Two years later, he joined a weekly dance club and became its registrar.

In his spare time, Mr Cameron enjoys watching pantomimes, films and musicals with his family. In January 2025, the staff at Cathkin House threw a special party for Mr Cameron, attended by family and friends, with a huge birthday cake.

Speaking about his centenary, Cameron said: “The best part of the day was meeting my great-grandchildren. I felt amazing, I can’t believe I’m 100 – I still feel so young.”

The old lady believes that the secret to her longevity is “happiness and a good family”. She also praises her habits of dancing and eating porridge every morning.

Nisha Sujeewon, care home manager, said: “It was a great honour to celebrate Cameron’s birthday with friends and family. He was a much-loved resident and we all had a wonderful time celebrating this memorable milestone.”

“Everything we do is aimed at helping our residents live happy and fulfilling lives, so we always like to mark special occasions. Cameron’s 100th birthday was no exception, and it was great to hear his advice on living a long and happy life,” the manager said.

According to Healthline , eating porridge for breakfast brings many health benefits and is a suitable choice to start a new day for the elderly. Porridge is easy to swallow for people with weak teeth and a weakened digestive system, and can be adjusted according to personal preferences or different diets.

You can cook porridge with many different types of grains and foods, making breakfast more diverse and attractive.
