On March 3, US Vice President JD Vance suggested that granting Washington future economic interests in Ukraine would serve as a security guarantee for Kiev itself.

Responding to Fox News , Vice President JD Vance stated that if Ukraine wants a real security guarantee and if it wants to be sure that conflict will not recur, the best way is to create economic benefits for the United States in Ukraine.

According to him, this is much more effective than deploying 20,000 soldiers from some country to Ukraine to join the peacekeeping force, especially when these soldiers have not participated in field situations for the past 30-40 years.

In addition, Mr. Vance said that US President Donald Trump still left the door open for negotiations, as long as his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky was willing to "engage in serious peace negotiations," noting that both Moscow and Kiev would have to make concessions to achieve peace.

The remarks come as President Trump pushes for a mineral deal with Ukraine, an Eastern European country with vast reserves of rare earth minerals, which are vital to the high-tech industry.

According to Mr. Trump, this could be a form of compensation for the hundreds of billions of dollars in aid that Washington has provided to Kiev since the conflict with Moscow broke out in February 2022.

However, the dispute between Presidents Trump and Zelensky at the White House on February 28 caused the Ukrainian leader to leave the US earlier than planned, the two sides did not hold a joint press conference and did not sign the mineral agreement as planned. Until now, the future of the mineral agreement remains an open question.

For his part, President Zelensky expressed hope to receive US support in the process of finding a sustainable peace solution for Ukraine, emphasizing that Kiev will "promote substantive diplomacy to end the conflict as soon as possible."

The Ukrainian parliament also issued a statement on March 3 supporting diplomatic efforts and strong relations with Washington, saying that President Trump had been "very decisive" in his efforts to find a solution to end the conflict.

As for Russia, on March 4, the Kremlin assessed that it would be difficult for the country and the US to start negotiations on Ukraine until the diplomatic missions of the two countries resumed full operations.
