Major General Tran Van Bac takes on the role of Commander of Military Region 2.

On the morning of November 7, in Phu Tho, General Phan Van Giang chaired a conference to hand over the command of Military Region 2 from Lieutenant General Pham Hong Chuong to Major General Tran Van Bac - Deputy Commander of Military Region 2.

Accordingly, based on Decision No. 1228/QD-TTg dated October 21, 2024 of the Prime Minister, Lieutenant General Pham Hong Chuong is retired according to the regime.

Speaking at the handover conference, Senior General Phan Van Giang congratulated Lieutenant General Pham Hong Chuong for successfully completing the duties and tasks assigned by the Party and State.

In the past time, in his position as Commander of Military Region 2, Lieutenant General Pham Hong Chuong, together with the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Military Region Command, led and directed the armed forces of Military Region 2 to successfully complete assigned tasks, with many tasks being completed excellently.

General Phan Van Giang also said that Major General Tran Van Bac is a cadre with basic training, matured from the grassroots, trained and tested through many working positions, has a lot of practical experience in leading and directing units, and demonstrates strategic thinking in directing the building of armed forces.

The assignment of new responsibilities to Major General Tran Van Bac demonstrates the trust of the Central Military Commission and the head of the Ministry of National Defense in him and the Standing Committee, Party Committee, and Command of Military Region 2.

At the handover conference, Senior General Phan Van Giang also requested that in his new position, Major General Tran Van Bac needs to inherit and promote the achievements that the armed forces of Military Region 2 have achieved in the past.

In addition, Major General Tran Van Bac and the Party Committee and Command of Military Region 2 need to direct agencies and units to closely coordinate with forces in managing and protecting border security and sovereignty; focus on building and improving the overall quality, combat strength and combat readiness of the armed forces of the Military Region.

At the same time, strengthen political and ideological education for officers and soldiers; promote activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day in a practical and effective manner.
