According to the reporter of Cong Thuong Newspaper about the Tet market at some traditional markets in Hanoi on the morning of January 26 (ie 27th of Tet), purchasing power increased rapidly while food prices remained quite stable.
Accordingly, the price of pork is generally at 120,000 - 150,000 VND/kg depending on the type, an increase of about 10,000 VND/kg compared to the days before Tet. The price of feathered chicken is generally at 120,000 VND/kg (no change recorded compared to the previous days). The price of ham has increased slightly due to a slight increase in the price of pork. The price of chicken eggs is also at 25,000 VND/10 eggs.

At the Southern wholesale market, gladiolus flowers are sold in bunches of 50 flowers for 370 VND/bunch; lilies are sold for 350,000 VND/bunch of 10 branches; wild plum flowers are sold for 80,000 VND/bunch; wild peach flowers are sold for 150,000 VND/bunch; watermelons are sold for 600,000 VND/box of 8 fruits; bananas imported from Laos are sold for 430,000 VND/box of 3 bunches; bananas imported from Cambodia are sold for 450,000 VND/box of 4 bunches.
On the evening of January 25 (the 26th day of the Lunar New Year), many trucks carrying green bananas from the South and bananas imported from Laos and Cambodia poured into the Southern Hanoi wholesale market. According to a trader at the Southern wholesale market, from the 23rd day of the Lunar New Year until now, the daily consumption at their market has been up to 5-6 trucks, each truck carrying about 3 tons of bananas.

An average bunch of bananas weighs about 3kg, about 120,000 VND/bunch, a cheaper price than buying at the traditional market.
Consumers prioritize choosing Vietnamese products
Along with the traditional markets, at some supermarkets in Hanoi, since the Kitchen Gods' Day (December 23), purchasing power at supermarkets has gradually increased. The most consumed items are mainly essential goods and are concentrated in the fresh food, cakes, candies, and fruit stalls. Many consumers commented that the supply of Tet goods is relatively adequate and abundant. Most of the selected items are Vietnamese goods due to their good quality.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan - Director of Go! Thang Long supermarket (Cau Giay district) said that in recent days, the number of customers coming to the supermarket has increased quite high, about 20-30% compared to the previous week and increased by about 15% compared to the same period in 2024. To prepare enough goods, the supermarket has started implementing from around the third quarter of 2024 with the amount of goods increasing by about 15% compared to the same period last year, focusing on fresh products for Tet. Notably, 90% of Vietnamese goods are given priority for sale on supermarket shelves.
