Taking off the old, tight shirt, the new figure at these "stops" is attracting many tourists' attention and search.
Under the Bh'noong roof
Phuoc Son is shaping the space of Kham Duc town with the stature of a young urban area with great potential for economic, cultural and tourism development. The expansion in scale is gradually evident in each stage of local development, specifically in both directions of Kham Duc airport and Autumn lake.
Mr. Do Hoai Xoan - Vice Chairman of Phuoc Son District People's Committee said that in addition to expanding the administrative space right in Kham Duc, the goal by 2030, the locality will form 2 urban areas.
This also contributes to creating a trade connection between the locality and neighboring districts in the Western region and the Central Highlands provinces... Kham Duc becoming a type 4 urban area and Phuoc Hiep commune becoming a type 5 urban area is the desire of the mountainous people in the new development planning phase.
“Previously, due to many construction projects, especially the historical site of Kham Duc airport, expanding the urban development planning area encountered many difficulties.
Based on the development needs of the locality, through the assessment of potential and advantages, in recent years, besides investing in infrastructure development, we have made efforts to expand the urban scale, especially the space of Kham Duc town to the Northeast of the district, gradually "expanding" the old space, aiming to form a central urban area along the Ho Chi Minh road axis" - Mr. Xoan said.

In 2023, Kham Duc was chosen to host the 20th Quang Nam Mountainous Districts Cultural - Sports and Tourism Festival. In a side story, many people believe that this is the event where Phuoc Son is "testing" the operation of a new urban space, after a period of expanding investment.
Kham Duc Airport was renovated into the largest central stadium in the Eastern Truong Son region. Autumn Lake with its traditional village space has pure ancient features, along with a reasonable layout and arrangement of residents following the modern flow.
Many cultural activities take place throughout the festival. The Bh'noong Cultural Reserve has become an ideal destination for many tourists as well as local people. Under the roof of the village, cultural layers are skillfully selected and displayed, creating an unforgettable impression for the audience.
Standing in the middle of the forest
The other day, we stopped at Prao - the "cay cho" town of the Co Tu people in Dong Giang district. After many years of struggling with the problem of upgrading, at the end of 2023, the locality is determined to expand the area, creating open space, from the perspective of planning and population arrangement.
The hills on the slopes along Highway 14G are leveled and create a new land fund with great potential for the future urban appearance.
Previously, Dong Giang also expanded the roads to the south, along the banks of the A Vuong River. Many construction projects were invested and upgraded, contributing to the new appearance of the town.

However, compared to the criteria of a type 5 urban area, Prao is still a "poor" town in terms of structure, level of socio-economic development, population density, as well as infrastructure, architecture, urban landscape, etc.
Mr. Do Tai - Secretary of Dong Giang District Party Committee said that the locality is focusing on solving difficulties related to completing criteria according to regulations of type 5 urban area for Prao town.
In addition to investing in infrastructure, urban beautification, attracting investment in service and tourism development, the locality prioritizes the construction and completion of the traffic system, lighting, urban green tree density, etc.
At the same time, Dong Giang continues to review and adjust the general construction planning (1/5,000), gradually renovating Prao urban area to suit the development orientation of type 5 urban area in the coming time.
In the western mountains of the province, where the Ho Chi Minh trail passes through, the old towns of the Co Tu, Bh'noong, Ve, and Ta Rieng people are increasingly present along with the general development process of the province.
A Prao is "transforming" with smart urban planning projects; Kham Duc is associated with preserving and promoting cultural identity, to Thanh My (Nam Giang) is oriented to focus on developing commercial infrastructure...
The towns on the legendary Truong Son road, with their changes but still maintaining their identity, are expected to make the strategy of "prosperous urban areas" in the mountains a success...
