The breakthrough program on developing high-tech agriculture associated with restructuring the agricultural sector for cows is being focused on by Duc Hue district.

The work of the people

The 12th Congress of the Duc Hue District Party Committee, Long An Province determined that the only project was to build roads in hamlets 4, 5, and 6, My Quy Tay Commune. Looking at the completed and ready-to-open asphalt road, Mr. Tran Van Luot, a resident living nearby, was extremely happy because for many years, this road had been a nightmare for people traveling on it. Therefore, when there was a policy to asphalt the road, he and about 460 households in My Quy Tay Commune agreed to donate land with a total value of more than 4.2 billion VND.

“We cannot express our joy and excitement when we see the completed road. Our dream after many years has come true,” Mr. Luot confided.

Roads in Hamlets 4, 5, 6 in My Quy Tay Commune, Duc Hue District are about to be inaugurated.

It is known that the road in hamlets 4, 5, 6 is the main artery of My Quy Tay commune. In recent years, this road has seriously degraded. Although the district has invested a lot of money in maintenance and repair every year, it still cannot meet the needs of people for travel and exchange of goods.

This project started in February 2023, the total length of the route is nearly 8km, the total investment is more than 85 billion VND. When completed, the project will not only meet expectations, serve the travel and exchange needs of people on both sides of the region but also contribute to socio-economic development associated with national defense and security stability on the border.

Duc Hue District Party Secretary Tran Thanh Phong said that the District Party Committee organized to disseminate related contents in My Quy Tay commune, detailed information as well as the significance of the project, so it received great consensus from the people. This is a project "The State and the People do together", in which people donate land, architectural works and assets on the land without compensation. Thanks to that, the site clearance work was smooth.

In addition to the above-mentioned CTTĐ, the CTTĐ on developing high-tech agriculture associated with restructuring the agricultural sector for lemon trees and cows is also focused on by the district to lead and direct implementation according to the roadmap.

Meet people's expectations

During this term, Thu Thua district proposed 4 CTTĐ and completed all projects. These are: The central axis road from Thu Thua town to National Highway N2; the bridge over Bo Bo canal (South bank of T3 canal); the Northern Cultural - Sports Center; the bridge over Thu Thua canal (Cay Da ferry, connecting Nhi Thanh commune and Tan Thanh commune). Of which, the bridge over Bo Bo canal was put into use about 4 years ago in the joy and expectation of the people and students in Tan Thanh commune.

The project not only ensures the smooth transportation and circulation of goods and people between the two Provincial Roads 817 - 818, but also contributes to completing the traffic infrastructure system, serving the socio-economic development in the district. The bridge is designed in an X shape, making it safer when moving up and down the bridge. The bridge area is equipped with lights, making it more convenient for people to travel at night.

The key project of the bridge over Bo Bo canal (Tan Thanh commune, Thu Thua district) is designed in an X shape, helping people to be safe when moving across the bridge.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, whose child attends Tan Thanh Primary and Secondary School, said: In the past, people who wanted to cross Bo Bo canal had to rely on ferries, which only operated from 5am to 6pm every day. Outside of this time, people had to go very far in a detour. Not to mention, during rush hour, when the demand for travel is high, people had to wait a long time for ferries, and when ferries carry many people, there was a potential risk of traffic safety. Traveling by ferries is both expensive and inconvenient, so for many years, people have dreamed of having a bridge across Bo Bo canal.

“Everyone is happy that the bridge has been put into use. Not only does it make travel more convenient, but the bridge is also in a very convenient location. Just drive across the bridge and you will reach Tan Thanh Primary and Secondary School, so parents and students are very secure,” Ms. Thuy shared.

According to Secretary of Thu Thua District Party Committee - Dinh Van Sau, since the beginning of the 2020-2025 term, the district has been highly determined, made great efforts, and focused on implementing solutions to successfully complete the targets of the 12th Thu Thua District Party Congress. In particular, 4 CTTDs are of special importance, and have been deployed and implemented closely by the district in each stage until completion. After completion, the projects have met the needs of use well, gradually perfecting the infrastructure system, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of Thu Thua district in particular and Long An province in general.

In addition, the district also pays attention to and focuses on 2 CTDPs: Investing in developing high-tech agriculture on sticky rice, lemon trees, yellow apricot trees and cows; improving the efficiency of compensation, site clearance and resettlement to implement projects in the district.

Motivation to develop

Rural economy with many "bright spots", people gradually change from traditional production methods to applying new models,... are the highlights from the Agricultural Development Program applying high technology in vegetable growing and brackish water shrimp farming associated with restructuring the agricultural sector of Can Giuoc district.

Breakthrough program on high-tech vegetable growing in Can Giuoc district

The pilot transfer of high technology, especially the application of smart technology equipment in agricultural production in Can Giuoc district, has helped many farmers and cooperatives expand production scale, bringing high income.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoang (Phuoc Hau commune) has been growing vegetables for about 15 years. He informed that at first, like other farmers, his family grew vegetables in the traditional way. Later, he attended a class on growing vegetables according to VietGAP standards. Currently, he grows cabbage in a greenhouse, installing an automatic irrigation system, so there are fewer pests and diseases, reducing the number of times pesticides are used, reducing labor; the productivity and quality of vegetables have been improved.

Farmers in Can Giuoc district apply high technology in brackish water shrimp farming

Every year, the district produces over 1,700 hectares of vegetables, supplying the market with about 140,000 tons of vegetables. Implementing the Program according to Resolution XI of the Provincial Party Committee and the Program according to Resolution XII of the District Party Committee, the district's Department of Agriculture and Environment focuses on many solutions to apply high technology in vegetable growing and brackish water shrimp farming. At the same time, mobilizing farmers to participate in the program; guiding and transferring science and technology; training, capital support, etc.

Thanks to that, the rural economy has had positive changes with models of association and production cooperation. People actively apply scientific and technical advances to increase economic efficiency. Up to now, the whole district has implemented 1,342 hectares of vegetables and 537 hectares of shrimp using high technology.

The CTTĐ and CTĐP not only have social security significance, contributing to improving the quality of people's lives but also promoting local socio-economic development. Therefore, ensuring the progress of CTTĐ and CTĐP not only completes the Resolution's targets but also motivates Party committees and authorities at all levels to aim for higher goals in the coming time./.
