In early July 2023, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training reported to the Hanoi People's Committee and asked the Ministry of Education and Training for a special mechanism to solve immediate difficulties in finding places for students to study, including increasing the number of students per class by 10% (from 45 to 50 students); increasing the number of classes in each school by 10% (from 45 to 50 classes/school); applying the replacement of land area/student with usable area/student.
If this proposal is approved by management levels, Hanoi will apply it to public high schools in inner-city districts and some districts bordering the inner-city area from the 2023-2024 school year.
Hanoi currently has a system of public schools, private schools, continuing education centers - vocational education centers with enough places for students, but still needs to ensure enough places in public high schools if students need to continue studying.
