
On the afternoon of June 28, in Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union jointly launched a contest to create digital media products to raise awareness of gender equality in ethnic minority and mountainous areas with the theme "Highlands bring happiness".
For Vietnamese youth union members and children at home and abroad, the contest aims to promote the role and participation of young people in activities promoting gender equality and solving issues related to young women and children in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

Accepting works from now until August 28 at https://binhdanggioi.doanthanhnien.vn , the "Highland Happiness" contest revolves around modern media publications on digital platforms such as: infographics, posters, propaganda paintings...
The content of the entries must convey messages about: gender equality in the family, especially in ethnic minority and mountainous areas; a safe and happy life, without violence and discrimination between men and women; reflecting real life issues that exist in ethnic minority and mountainous areas such as early marriage, gender prejudice, gender stereotypes... Through this, calling for the elimination of bad customs and prejudices, building civilized communities and happy families.
Speaking at the launching ceremony of the contest, Secretary of the Central Youth Union and President of the Vietnam Student Association Nguyen Minh Triet cited statistics showing that Vietnam is ranked 87th out of 153 countries globally in terms of narrowing the gender gap. However, on a global scale, women spend 14 hours more per week than men on housework, childcare and the elderly. Especially in ethnic minority areas, women are a vulnerable group, suffering many disadvantages and gender inequality from the family to society.

“I hope that each member and youth will actively promote, disseminate, introduce and respond positively to the Contest, effectively promote and spread positive messages about an equal, safe, happy life, without violence and discrimination between men and women, say no to early marriage, gender prejudice, gender stereotypes, contribute to changing awareness and behavior, building a civilized community, happy families, a progressive, equal and sustainable society,” said comrade Nguyen Minh Triet.

Within the framework of the launching ceremony of the Contest, there were situational plays and exchange programs, listening to speakers sharing to contribute to raising awareness of gender equality, educating young women and ethnic minority children to be pioneers in changing, eliminating harmful customs, preserving and promoting traditional cultural identities of ethnic groups.
