Rich man offers 34 billion VND reward to find missing child after 20 years
Mr. Ta Nguyet offers a reward of about 34 billion VND for anyone who finds his son.
According to Chinese media, Xie Yue, a big businessman in Shenzhen, Guangdong (China), got married and had a son named Xie Haonan in 1998. However, on January 14, 2001, when he was only three years old, the boy mysteriously disappeared from Baishi Zhoushahe Hospital, Nanshan District, Shenzhen. Xie Yue spent all her time, money, and sold her house to search for her son.
After many years of suffering, he decided to lift his spirits, go into business, and rebuild his career. Not only did he establish 4 companies, he also owned 6 houses. But no matter how successful he was, Ta Nguyet still did not give up on finding her child.
Mr. Ta Nguyet's son when he was young
In December 2023, Ta Nguyet announced a reward of about 1.4 million USD (about 34 billion VND) for anyone who could help him find his missing son. However, instead of receiving positive information that would help him quickly find his son, he was harassed by strangers every day.
Every day, he receives many phone calls from strangers claiming to be his son and wanting to do a DNA test with him. There is even a person only 10 years younger than him who insists that he is his son.
The large bonus attracted the attention of many people, including those who "didn't want to live by honest labor". He was "fed up" with people constantly claiming to be his son.
"I receive about eight to nine phone calls a day from strangers. They call me dad. The harassment seriously affects my personal life and work. There was even a 41-year-old man who came to the office and said he was my son. He wanted a DNA test. I'm only 51 years old so there's no way he could be my son," said Mr. Ta.
This not only caused trouble but also hurt Ta Nguyet's spirit, but he still did not give up hope.
Who gets the huge bonus?

On March 14, the police called Ta Nguyet with the good news: DNA test results confirmed that Ta Hao Nam was his missing son. When they reunited, father and son immediately hugged each other in tears. To make up for the years of separation, he immediately bought his son a car.
According to the investigation, Xie Haonan was sold to a foster family. However, his foster parents died in a serious traffic accident, leaving him an orphan. With no financial support, Haonan had to drop out of school, join the army, and then work many jobs. After many years of saving, he returned to school and graduated with a master's degree from a top university in China. Currently, Xie Haonan is working in a research laboratory.
Police identified Ta Hao Nam's kidnapper as a fruit seller. The kidnapping was not planned, but a spontaneous act. The kidnapper has been arrested, but the details of the case are still being clarified.

Although the child was eventually found, the 10 million yuan reward remained unclaimed. Xie Yue said: "I will donate all the money to charity to help missing children. I hope to raise public awareness of this problem."
