The World Record Union, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Record Association and the Vietnam Record Organization Vietkings have just awarded the World Record Certificate to the Shennong Tower made from the world's largest stone mortar shaped like rice grains.
Mr. Tran Van Toan, owner of Than Nong Tower project, received the World Record certificate.
This is a special event, marking the official recognition from the World Record Union of the work bearing the cultural and historical values of Vietnam's rice civilization.
The Than Nong Tower was built in 2021 and is located at the Dong Do Vocational Training and Driving Test Center, Lam Thao Commune, Luong Tai District, Bac Ninh Province. The tower is 15 m high, divided into 5 floors made of 1,012 stone mortars arranged in an outer ring.
The tower is designed in the shape of a grain of rice, built vertically. On top of the tower is a model of the constellation Shennong with 15 stars made of LED lights that glow in different colors at night. Inside the tower there are steps up and down. Details of stone mortars, stone shafts for pulling rice, stone mills for grinding rice, and rice are arranged around to create a complex of stone objects associated with wet rice agriculture.
Than Nong Tower is located at Dong Do Vocational Training and Driving Test Center, Lam Thao commune, Luong Tai district, Bac Ninh province.
The tower symbolizes the god of the rice civilization. This is a unique destination, attracting visitors to Bac Ninh province, both creating a landscape and serving as a model of experiential cultural education.
Previously, on May 20, 2023, the Vietnam Record Association awarded the Vietnam Record title to the Than Nong Tower model - the largest rice grain-shaped stone mortar tower in Vietnam. On November 30, VietKings awarded the Asian Record certificate to the Stone Mortar Tower (Thap Than Nong) as the largest rice grain in Asia.
The event was not only an opportunity to honor the creativity and dedication of the founder of the project, but also a tribute to the rice civilization and the contributions of Vietnamese farmers through many generations.
