Speaking at the program, Dr. Thang Van Phuc, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Record Holders Association, acknowledged and highly appreciated the contributions of Dong Do Technical and Commercial Company Limited and Record Holder Tran Van Toan, Chairman of the Board of Members, in collecting and building the Than Nong Tower - a cultural symbol, the pinnacle of agricultural cultural creativity for people to enjoy; at the same time, he hoped that the Company would continue to contribute, develop and spread the value of the Than Nong Tower.
Than Nong Tower is located at Dong Do Vocational Training and Driving Test Center, Lam Thao Commune, Luong Tai District, Bac Ninh Province.
The Shennong Tower - a symbol of the god of the rice civilization - is made up of 1,012 stone mortars arranged in an outer ring, with a solid concrete frame inside. The tower is designed in the shape of a grain of rice, erected vertically.
The Shennong Tower is 15m high, divided into 5 floors. On top of the tower is a model of the Shennong constellation with 15 stars made of LED lights that glow in different colors at night. This is a unique destination, attracting visitors to Bac Ninh province, both creating a landscape and serving an experiential cultural education model.
Mr. Tran Van Toan, Chairman of the Board of Members of Dong Do Technical and Commercial Company Limited, said that as agricultural production becomes more and more modern, in many rural areas, many stone mortars, stone shafts, rice mills, etc. are discarded.
With love and desire to spread the traditional culture of the nation, he spent time, effort and wealth to collect stone mortars and build an exhibition area. Through that, he wanted to preserve and conserve the culture of the countryside, of agricultural culture, and preserve the memories of a generation and a cultural and historical period of the Northern countryside.
This is the first stone mortar and rice culture exhibition area in Bac Ninh province, aiming at developing sustainable experience services, services and tourism, contributing to promoting the local socio-economy; at the same time preserving, conserving and promoting the quintessence of Kinh Bac culture and rice culture.
