Thanh Phong exploits tourism development potential

Many households have renovated their stilt houses to serve tourists coming to Tan Hung village, Thanh Phong commune.

Coming to Tan Hung village, you can immerse yourself in the wild and airy space, listen to the murmuring sound of streams, experience dishes imbued with the culinary culture of the Thai ethnic group, such as: grilled fish, bamboo rice, steamed pork, grilled chicken, rock snails, purple sticky rice..., especially visitors can also stay in traditional stilt houses, when night falls, you can light a campfire, drink rice wine, enjoy Thai xoe, Thai khap, folk songs and dances with rich identity performed by Thai girls here. Coming to Tan Hung village in the ripe rice season, visitors will admire the incredibly beautiful terraced fields, which are hard to take your eyes off.

In recent years, with the attention and investment of the state, along with the propaganda and mobilization of the local government, some households in Tan Hung village have boldly invested capital to renovate, build stilt houses, purchase equipment to develop community tourism, and increase family income. Currently, Tan Hung village has 24 households building accommodation facilities to serve tourists, of which 16 have been completed and put into use. In the first 2 months of 2025, Tan Hung village welcomed about 2,000 visitors to visit and experience.

Mr. Ha Van Tuan, one of the households doing tourism in Tan Phong village, said: "With the attention and encouragement of the local Party Committee and government, my family has determined to invest in developing community tourism. In 2023, I will repair the stilt house where my family lives and renovate the area around the house to welcome tourists. To better serve the needs of tourists, my family has participated in training courses on tourism and food hygiene and safety to serve the needs of tourists. Thanks to developing community tourism, my family has more income and created jobs for some family members."

Along with the people of Tan Hung village, many people in Thanh Phong commune also actively participate in tourism training courses organized by the commune to gain more knowledge about community tourism. It is known that Thanh Phong commune has more than 20% of households living in traditional stilt houses; people also preserve and promote many traditional cultural values ​​of the Thai ethnic group with folk songs, folk dances, unique cuisine; there are also many beautiful terraced fields, streams, waterfalls... To promote this potential and strength, Thanh Phong commune encourages households with conditions to invest in renovating traditional stilt houses, creating a green, clean, and beautiful natural landscape. Promote propaganda and mobilize people to preserve and promote traditional cultural values; establish folk culture and art clubs to serve tourists, create jobs and increase income for people.

However, tourism development in Thanh Phong commune is still difficult because the transport infrastructure has not been invested synchronously; skills in doing community tourism are still limited; waste and wastewater treatment is not guaranteed; typical products have not been created for tourists to buy as gifts for friends and relatives... In particular, people lack capital to build infrastructure and develop quality services to meet the needs of tourists.

Mr. Le Van Tuan, Chairman of Thanh Phong Commune People's Committee, said: Determining tourism development as an important direction in creating jobs and increasing income for people, the commune continues to strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to develop community tourism associated with preserving and promoting cultural identity. Focus on training and fostering knowledge and skills in tourism for people. Direct villages to mobilize people to plant and raise specialty trees and animals associated with tourism development to increase economic value for people. Strengthen the promotion of local potential and strengths, attract investment in tourism projects. Thereby, attracting a large number of tourists to visit and experience, contributing to promoting the beauty of Thanh Phong land.
