Mr. Le Vien Duy Tuoc - Secretary of the Youth Union of Ward 15 (Tan Binh District) - said that in response to the launching ceremony of Youth Month 2025, the Ward 15 Youth Union was directed by the District Youth Union, as well as the Party Committee - People's Committee of the ward to clean up the Hy Vong Canal box culvert area.
In the coming time, the Youth Union of Ward 15 will coordinate with the Saigon Xanh Club to install more trash barriers on the Hy Vong Canal to prevent trash from entering the box culvert.
Mr. Nguyen Luong Ngoc - head of the Saigon Xanh club - said that the club has more than 30 volunteers participating in cleaning up the garbage at the above garbage accumulation point. In the morning, the water in the above area is deep, in the canal there are pieces of pottery, sharp objects, decomposing animal carcasses with a foul smell...
After about 3 hours, the Saigon Xanh club coordinated with local and youth union members to clean up the garbage at the garbage accumulation point above.
According to Mr. Nguyen Luong Ngoc, in the coming time, the Saigon Xanh Club will coordinate with relevant units to place many buoys to block the trash in the above canal, to be able to block the area, manage where the trash comes from, and prevent the situation of too much trash flowing to the end of the source.
"Sai Gon Xanh hopes that people around here will pay more attention to environmental issues, dispose of garbage properly, and not litter" - Mr. Ngoc shared.
Previously, Tuoi Tre Online noted on February 20 that Hy Vong canal (near Phan Huy Ich street, ward 15, Tan Binh district) had a lot of trash.
Some residents near the canal said that after heavy rain, garbage was carried along by the water and accumulated. "I hope that some people's awareness will change and there will be no more littering so that this canal will be free of garbage and bad smell," said one resident.

Mr. Do Phuong Nam, a volunteer participating in collecting trash, said: "The trash spot is very large and thick, with many layers, making it very difficult to bring the trash to shore. This morning the tide was very high, we had to wait until around 9am for the water to recede a bit so we could go down and collect the trash. The trash here is mainly household waste," said Mr. Nam - Photo: NGOC KHAI
