Immediately after the devastating earthquake in Myanmar, Vietnam sent an aid team with a lot of equipment. Along with the police and military forces, several hospitals also sent medical staff and supplies to help Myanmar overcome the consequences of the earthquake.
On the morning of March 30, 16 experienced doctors and nurses from Military Hospital 103 set off to participate in search and rescue operations in Myanmar.
Colonel, Associate Professor, Dr. Luong Cong Thuc, director of Military Hospital 103, said that a working group of 16 officers, doctors and nurses had arrived in Myanmar with medical equipment, ready for rescue.
Sending medical staff from Military Hospital 103 to participate in humanitarian aid and disaster relief in Myanmar demonstrates the high responsibility of the Party, State and people of Vietnam to the international community.
He emphasized that this is an important but also difficult task. The unit will coordinate with local doctors and nurses to focus on treating patients, in accordance with the expertise and capabilities of the team.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Lan Hieu, director of Hanoi Medical University Hospital, also shared that the first relief flights of the Vietnamese government have arrived in Myanmar.
Hanoi Medical University Hospital has transferred antibiotics, painkillers, antiseptics, IV fluids and first aid kits with a total value of 500 million VND. The medicines have now reached doctors and nurses to treat patients.
Mr. Hieu shared that the day after the earthquake occurred, he contacted the head professor of the cardiology department at Mandalay General Hospital.
The good news is that all the doctors and nurses survived the terrible earthquake. But the hospital was completely closed and had to be moved to Kantawnadi and the former COVID-19 treatment center.
"Looking at the pictures of the hospital where I have been attached for more than 10 years, I cannot hold back my tears. Surely the trip scheduled for May will not be able to perform any more congenital heart disease interventions," Mr. Hieu shared.
In addition, Military Hospital 105 and Military Hospital 354 also sent a team to participate in the relief effort. The number of teams ensures relief for two weeks, and is expected to handle 50-100 victims per day.
A rescue team of 106 people from the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam has arrived in Myanmar to carry out rescue work and support people to overcome the earthquake disaster.
Vietnam has decided to provide emergency relief supplies at Myanmar's request, providing 300,000 USD in aid to help Myanmar overcome the consequences of the earthquake.

The flights took off, carrying not only medicine and medical equipment, but also the sentiments, responsibility, and solidarity of Vietnam towards international friends, and the affection of the Vietnamese people who are ready to share difficulties and hardships.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has also provided initial support, including 3 tons of medical supplies, including treatment kits for serious injuries and fractures, and multi-purpose tents to create more space for treating the injured,...
WHO also stressed the need to maintain essential services such as vaccination and health care for women and children for the next 30 days.
