Tan Binh District and District 10 choose two plots of land for TOD along metro line 2

According to Tan Binh District People's Committee, previously, Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a list of urban development areas oriented towards public transport under the TOD model (Transit-Oriented Development - urban development closely connected to the public transport system, facilitating movement and reducing congestion) along metro lines 1 and 2.

In which, Tan Binh district has two locations, including the Exhibition Center and Tan Binh District Sports Center at 446 - 448 Hoang Van Thu Street (Ward 4) and area C30 in Tan Binh district and District 10.

The land plot No. 446 - 448 Hoang Van Thu Street is assessed by the district as easy to implement because the entire area of ​​5.1 hectares is land managed by the State, no site clearance is required.

This location is adjacent to Bay Hien station of metro line 2 under construction, so it is very convenient for connecting to public transport.

Regarding the implementation plan, Tan Binh District People's Committee said that in the second to third quarter of 2025, it will organize planning adjustments.

After the planning adjustment project is approved, Tan Binh district will coordinate with the City Department of Construction and other units to select investors according to regulations...

For the C30 land plot of nearly 41 hectares in Tan Binh and District 10, the Department of Construction is the unit in charge of planning and submitting it to the City People's Committee for approval. Regarding this land plot, the People's Committees of Tan Binh and District 10 have also developed a plan for coordination and implementation.

Land area C30 is currently vacant or sparsely populated, or has factories and enterprises planned to be relocated... The area has a large area of ​​land directly managed by the State, so it is easy to relocate and clear the site.

Also related to the location for TOD implementation along metro line 2, Tan Phu district previously selected land plot I/82 A in Tay Thanh ward for implementation. This land plot is more than 26 hectares wide, adjacent to Tay Thanh and Truong Chinh streets.

Ho Chi Minh City aims to start construction of metro line 2 project in December 2025

Metro Line 2 has a total investment capital of about 47,890 billion VND, implemented from ODA loans. Although the investment policy was approved in 2010, most of the main construction packages have not yet started, except for the office building at Tham Luong depot which was completed in 2017.

Currently, the city is carrying out procedures to adjust the metro line 2 project and convert capital from ODA to public investment. It is expected that in October 2025, metro line 2 will select a contractor to start construction in December 2025 and complete by 2030.
