Sony Pictures announced on March 31 that it will tell the story of the legendary band The Beatles through four separate films, scheduled to be released in April 2028.
Director Sam Mendes also announced the main cast for this project at the CinemaCon event in Las Vegas (USA) on the same day.
Specifically, Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson will play John Lennon, while Barry Keoghan will play Ringo Starr and Joseph Quinn will take on the role of George Harrison.
According to director Mendes, each film will be told from the perspective of a member of The Beatles, thereby giving the audience a deeper insight into their lives and careers.
Speaking on stage at CinemaCon, director Mendes said: "They are four very different individuals. The film will be an opportunity to understand them more clearly."
Director Sam Mendes describes it as "the first back-to-back cinematic experience on the big screen" as all four films will be released in the same month.
Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman also confidently asserted: "We will dominate the culture that month."
Filming is expected to last more than a year and the release order of the four films has not yet been revealed.
Director Mendes shared that he had long cherished the idea of making a film about The Beatles but always felt that the group's story was too big to be contained in a single work.
The idea of adapting it into a TV series also didn't work, so he decided to do the project in this special way.

The announcement comes amid a difficult time for the Hollywood film industry. Despite the expectation of a strong recovery in 2025, North American box office revenue is currently at $1.3 billion, down 7% from the same period in 2024.
Many major productions such as Disney's live-action version of "Snow White" and the science fiction film " Mickey 17" have failed miserably.
With a series of ambitious projects, Hollywood is hoping to revive the film industry and bring audiences back to theaters after a long period of difficulty.
CinemaCon, which is taking place at Caesars Palace, is a prime opportunity for studios to showcase their big projects and regain the trust of theater owners. In addition to the Beatles series, Sony also revealed plans for other major projects such as " Spider-Man: Brand New Day" (released in July 2026) and "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse" (expected in June 2027).
In addition to Sony, major film studios also took advantage of CinemaCon to announce a series of attractive projects.
Warner Bros. has high hopes for Leonardo DiCaprio's " One Battle After Another" and the new "Superman" movie to revive the DC universe.
Meanwhile, Paramount continues its successful streak with the new "Mission: Impossible" film, with rumors of a surprise appearance by Tom Cruise on stage.
Meanwhile, Universal Pictures will introduce sequels to "Jurassic World" and " Wicked," while Lionsgate promises to bring eye-catching action in the "John Wick" series.
Disney - with a series of blockbusters from Marvel to the new "Avatar" - will close the CinemaCon event on the evening of April 3./.
