The digital revolution of public address systems
In the memories of many Vietnamese people, the sounds from the loudspeakers of the ward and commune have become an indispensable part of daily life. Every morning, the news, announcements from the local government or familiar melodies have contributed to creating a community space, erasing distance.
However, with the development of technology and the increasing demand for information, traditional loudspeaker systems gradually revealed limitations such as poor sound quality, annoying static and cumbersome technical infrastructure, and expensive operating costs.
Trusted by the Ministry of Information and Communications, MobiFone has decided to pioneer in digital transformation in this field. MobiFone's smart loudspeaker system is developed based on 4.0 technology platform, using cloud computing and artificial intelligence to manage and transmit content.
This solution not only overcomes the limitations of traditional systems but also brings many superior features such as remote management, flexible decentralization, and increased interaction between people and the government.
To date, MobiFone’s smart loudspeaker system has appeared in all regions of the country. More than 15,000 devices have been installed in 62/63 provinces and cities.
Footsteps over mountains bring information to every region
Recalling an unforgettable memory, Mr. Doan Dinh Dan, Deputy Director in charge of MobiFone IT, shared: "In 2020, we brought a smart loudspeaker system to a border commune in Ha Giang. This is an area with rugged terrain, bumpy roads, and harsh weather. Vehicles could not enter, so we had to carry the equipment, climb mountains, and wade through streams for half a day."
The pouring rain and slippery dirt roads sapped the strength of all the team members. But when the first sound from the smart loudspeaker rang out in the middle of the border mountains and forests, joy was evident on the faces of the entire team and the people.
An old man in the village emotionally said: " In the past, we had to travel dozens of kilometers to the market to hear the news. Now, we can stay at home and know the news, weather forecasts, and announcements from the government. Thank you, officials, for bringing technology to the people ."
Not only in Ha Giang, the story of the tireless steps of MobiFone's technical team has also spread to many other lands. In Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Quang Tri or remote islands, they have overcome all difficulties to bring technology to the people.
When the Covid-19 epidemic broke out, this system played an important role in providing disease prevention information, medical guidance and support policies to each citizen.
During the time of typhoon No. 3 (Yagi), smart loudspeakers became a bridge, helping people to promptly grasp information about the weather situation, the direction of the storm, and preventive measures, thereby minimizing damage to people and property.
The feedback from both the government and the people has been very positive. The government is satisfied with the smart management tool, with clear decentralization from the provincial to communal levels. People are also happy to have quick access to information, with clear sound, without the static like before. The satisfaction level is rated at over 90%.
Economically, the smart loudspeaker system has brought MobiFone about 250 billion VND since its official launch in 2020. Thanks to the use of wireless technology and remote management capabilities, the solution also helps save operating costs by 20-30% compared to traditional systems.
Aspiration to bring Vietnamese smart loudspeakers to "go global"
MobiFone is planning to develop many new features for the smart loudspeaker system, integrating new features such as monitoring, warning, and facial recognition to prevent theft, contributing to protecting security and order.
In terms of cost, MobiFone is also trying to reduce product prices so that the smart loudspeaker system can cover a wider area at a lower cost.
" Because we produce by ourselves, we can optimize the equipment, make it more compact, more durable and reduce product costs. If we deploy in large quantities or have a leasing mechanism instead of bidding, reducing costs is completely feasible ," Mr. Dan emphasized.
Not only focusing on the domestic market, MobiFone also cherishes the aspiration of bringing Made in Vietnam products to the world.
Developed entirely domestically, the smart loudspeaker system is highly competitive in price compared to similar products on the market. Flexible customization is also a factor that helps the product to be suitable for countries with different economic conditions.
If we decide to export this product, developing countries will be the most potential markets. “ Southeast Asian countries such as Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, African regions, or some South American countries often have high demand for timely community information provision. Those will probably be the first targets ,” said the head of MobiFone IT.
Many places in the world are still facing natural disasters and epidemics every day. These are the places where grassroots broadcasting systems are most effective.
The smart broadcasting system can therefore also be exported through development assistance projects of the United Nations and international organizations. This will contribute to helping Vietnam raise its position and presence in the new era of the nation and people.
