Senior Lieutenant Doan Thanh Hoa, Political Commissar of Production and Construction Team No. 1, said that the unit is responsible for ensuring national defense in conjunction with economic, cultural and social development in the key project area of ​​two communes Nam Chac and Trinh Tuong in Bat Xat district and three communes in Muong Khuong district: Cao Son, La Pan Tan, Ta Thang; with more than 18km of border with China. This place has a harsh climate and weather, the land area is mainly mountainous, the terrain is rugged, the population is sparse, mainly ethnic minorities, and the economic conditions are still difficult.

Faced with the above situation, the leaders and commanders of the Team are always concerned: What to do to help people reduce poverty, push back some backward customs that still exist in the lives of a part of the people. The Party Committee and Party Cell of the unit have met to discuss and report to the superiors to organize the implementation of projects and programs to help people eliminate hunger and reduce poverty sustainably.

The unit focuses on building projects that are close to the farming and livestock raising practices of the people, but does not do it for them, but only mobilizes, supports, helps, and stimulates people to take the initiative. When the projects are implemented, the team will provide initial plants and seeds, help and guide people in livestock and crop raising techniques. The members of the unit always grasp the situation of each household, especially poor and near-poor households, to propagate and contribute to changing the thinking and mindset of the people.

Many highly effective models have been replicated such as: Raising buffaloes, breeding cows, goats, black pigs, native black geese; growing bananas, avocados, grapefruits, custard apples; growing and caring for medicinal plants such as cinnamon, artichoke, angelica...

The team has launched a movement for cadres and soldiers to self-study and self-train to improve their knowledge of economic management, skills in building and organizing the implementation of socio-economic development projects and sustainable poverty reduction in the locality. The cadres in charge help households set out time, methods, and ways to escape poverty; guide people to apply scientific and information technology advances to develop production and livestock to increase productivity and product quality...

This work has created jobs for poor households participating in the project, increased income, and stabilized their lives. From 2021 to present, Team 1 has provided people with: 375 breeding pigs; 268 goats, 2,000 chickens, 27 cows, 60 buffaloes, 63,000 Shan Tuyet tea trees, nearly 300,000 cinnamon trees; at the same time, assigned officers and employees to monitor and help each poor household...; thanks to that, the poverty rate in the area has decreased significantly every year.

Comrade Ma Seo Củi, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Chac Commune, Bat Xat District, shared that the local people are mainly ethnic minorities, living in the high mountains, with the habit of farming and farming, so their lives are still difficult. In recent times, with the attention and support of the officers and soldiers of the Production and Construction Team No. 1, Economic-Defense Group 345, the number of poor households in the locality has decreased. Many households have gradually had a more stable and prosperous life. The officers, employees and soldiers of the Team stay in the village day and night, close to the people, talk by word of mouth, work by hand, proactively guide and help with livestock and farming techniques so that people can work and develop their family economy. The officers and soldiers have contributed to helping people gradually change their thinking and way of thinking in life to rise up, further strengthening the deep military-civilian relationship at the border of the Fatherland.
