Community Tet - a complete festival for overseas Vietnamese

During the Tet holiday, embassy staff and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad strive to turn Vietnamese Tet into a full festival for the people, not just a traditional meeting.

This year, the community Tet holidays of the Year of the Dragon 2024, the Spring of the homeland abroad, have been prepared by diplomatic officials in advance, with many special performances. Those festivals are eagerly awaited by people, traveling from far and wide to attend.

In particular, this year, many representative agencies in many continents organized community Tet on the founding day of the Communist Party of Vietnam, February 3.

The Vietnamese Embassy in the Netherlands organized the "Homeland Spring" program with the participation of nearly 500 overseas Vietnamese, international students and many Dutch friends who love and are attached to Vietnam.

The performance was staged and performed by overseas Vietnamese themselves.

Overseas Vietnamese and Dutch friends had the opportunity to enjoy traditional Tet dishes such as banh chung, nem ran, etc., enjoy and participate in many special performances, and sing songs about love for the homeland and country.

At the meeting, Ambassador Ngo Huong Nam happily announced that in January 2024, the Land Law (amended) passed by the National Assembly opened the door, allowing overseas Vietnamese to buy houses in the country, without having to ask relatives to stand in their names as before.

"Country Market" in New York

On the same day, February 3, the Giap Thin Spring Fair 2024 was jointly organized by the Vietnamese Youth and Student Association in New York and the Vietnamese Association in New York (USA) in Brooklyn - one of the cultural and artistic centers of New York City.

The Spring Fair with the theme "Countryside Market" recreated the traditional Tet atmosphere of the Vietnamese people, with typical dishes of the 3 regions, folk festival games and unique art performances, filled with spring atmosphere.

The event attracted the participation of more than 700 guests from many groups and generations in the Vietnamese community, especially young people living, studying and working in New York City and neighboring areas, along with many international friends who love Vietnam.

On this occasion, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to the United Nations, highly appreciated the efforts, dynamism, creativity and enthusiasm of the young generation of Vietnam in general and Vietnamese youth and students in the US in particular.

Giap Thin Spring Fair 2024 in New York

The Ambassador affirmed that the fair and the Homeland Spring event organized by the delegation not only brought back the traditional Tet atmosphere of the nation, helping the Vietnamese community in the US and New York ease their homesickness, but also contributed to promoting the Lunar New Year and traditional Vietnamese cultural values ​​to local people and international friends, especially after the United Nations recognized Lunar New Year as an international holiday of the United Nations at the end of last year.

Warm Spring in Algeria

On February 3, the program Spring Homeland - Spring of Giap Thin 2024 was organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria with the participation of more than 200 guests.

Ambassador Tran Quoc Khanh sent a thank you letter and Tet gifts to outstanding overseas Vietnamese who have made positive contributions to the community's common activities in 2023; and presented a congratulatory letter to the Algerian Vovinam Federation for achieving the second best result of the entire delegation at the 7th World Vovinam Championship in Vietnam.

In addition, the Ambassador also presented the 9th National Award for Foreign Information of the Propaganda Department, the Steering Committee for Foreign Information Work to editor Chalgou Meriem (Digital TV Channel JEEL DZ TV), author of the report "The Land of Lotus - Strange Truths about Vietnam and an Interesting Culinary Culture".

The annual community Tet is always an opportunity for many generations in the Vietnamese community in Algeria to feel the atmosphere and flavor of traditional Tet together, and learn more about Vietnamese Tet customs.

Many third-generation overseas Vietnamese families drove more than 500 km to attend because for the community, the embassy is their home, and coming to the embassy is also a way to return to their beloved homeland Vietnam.

On this occasion, the Embassy introduced traditional dishes, music and martial arts and lion dance performances performed by Algerian Vovinam, traditional martial arts and Thanh Long martial arts students.

On the evening of February 3, our embassy in Venezuela organized the 2024 community Tet. Also on February 3, the Vietnamese Embassy, ​​the Association of Vietnamese People and the Association of Vietnamese Enterprises in the Russian Federation organized the program "Spring Homeland - Tet Giap Thin 2024" with the participation of more than 600 overseas Vietnamese representing many associations, businesses and Vietnamese students in Moscow and many localities of Russia, along with officials of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia.

Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi affirmed that the representative office will always be the common home of the Vietnamese community in the Russian Federation, a reliable support and a solid bridge between the people and their homeland.

Gratitude at Spring Hometown in Japan

On the evening of February 2, the Vietnamese Consul General in Osaka, Mr. Ngo Trinh Ha, hosted a reception to welcome the New Year "Spring Homeland 2024" with the participation of a large number of Vietnamese communities and Japanese friends in the Kansai region.

Consul General Ngo Trinh Ha mentioned the January 1 earthquake disaster in Ishikawa province, sent condolences and sympathies to the victims of the earthquake, including the Vietnamese community, and expressed gratitude to the Japanese government and people for their affection and support, both material and spiritual, for the Vietnamese people in the affected area.

The Homeland Spring event at the Consulate General of Vietnam is the opening activity of a series of Tet events in the Kansai region.
