Based on the document of the Ministry of Industry and Trade on organizing activities in response to the Earth Hour Campaign in 2024, the Provincial People's Committee issued an official dispatch assigning the Department of Industry and Trade to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Information and Communications, the Provincial Radio and Television Station, Thanh Hoa Newspaper, People's Committees of districts, towns and cities, and Thanh Hoa Electricity Company to coordinate in implementing activities in response to the "Earth Hour" Campaign in 2024.

Earth Hour 2024 carries the message "Save electricity - Make it a habit" with the desire to Reduce carbon footprint - Towards Net Zero, synonymous with reducing emissions. This is one of the prerequisites to realize the goal of net zero emissions by 2050. And it is also a "weapon" to help respond to climate change - the biggest challenge facing humanity.

Earth Hour is held globally on the last Saturday of March, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. with practical creative activities, mobilizing the community to save energy to protect nature for a better world for each person and for future generations.

Responding to Earth Hour 2024, Thanh Hoa province will launch a communication campaign to call on agencies, units, businesses and all people to turn off lights and unnecessary electrical equipment from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 23.

Earth Hour is an initiative of the World Wildlife Fund to raise public awareness about climate change and energy saving around the world. Over the years, the Earth Hour Campaign in Thanh Hoa has attracted the attention and response of millions of people from all walks of life.

According to information from the National Power System Control Center, after 1 hour of turning off the lights in response to the Earth Hour Campaign 2023 (from 20:30 to 21:30, March 25, 2023), the whole country saved 298,000 kWh of electricity (equivalent to about 555.6 million VND).
