BDK - 2025 is the year of "acceleration and finishing" to successfully complete the goals and targets set out in the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan for the 2021-2025 period. In particular, with the goal of striving to achieve an economic growth rate (GRDP) of 8% or more, the Provincial People's Committee has directed all sectors and levels to proactively and resolutely implement the work right from the beginning of 2025. Thereby, the socio-economic development situation in the first quarter of 2025 achieved some quite important results.

Agricultural - forestry - fishery production

According to Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Ngoc Tam, in the first quarter of 2025, the province's socio-economic situation achieved some remarkable results in various fields. Economic growth (GRDP) is estimated at 6.28%. Agricultural, forestry and fishery production has an estimated growth rate of 2.62%. Harvested rice output reached 61,840 tons, 2.48 times higher than the same period, reaching 65.79% of the plan.

The total coconut growing area is about 79,744 hectares, up 0.84% ​​over the same period. The coconut output harvested in the first quarter of 2025 is about 181.4 million fruits, up 1.4% over the same period, reaching 25.52% of the plan. The price of raw dry coconut ranges from 130 - 150 thousand VND/12 fruits. The fruit tree area is about 23,050 hectares, down 3.93% over the same period; the output is 71,340 tons, down 1.88% over the same period.

Currently, the total herd of cows is 210,650, down 3.22% over the same period, reaching 93.62% of the plan. The total herd of poultry is 5.52 million, down 6.54% over the same period, reaching 94.92% of the plan. The total herd of pigs is about 415 thousand, up 7.35% over the same period, reaching 100.75% of the plan.

Total aquaculture area is 33,219 hectares, up 8.74% over the same period, reaching 70.33% of the plan. Total harvested output is 120,640 tons, up 4.15% over the same period, reaching 21.35% of the plan. Intensive and semi-intensive shrimp farming area is 4,110 hectares, up 0.98% over the same period and reaching 30.88% of the plan. High-tech shrimp farming in the first quarter of 2025 has newly developed 138 hectares, reaching 27.6% of the plan (plan 500 hectares).

Aquatic product output reached about 58,110 tons, up 1.01% over the same period, reaching 25.47% of the plan. The total number of registered vessels was 3,721, including 2,021 offshore fishing vessels. The activities of production and business establishments at fishing ports were stable. The total number of vessels loading and unloading aquatic products was 660 turns/6,957 tons.

The province has 89 cooperative groups (THT), 82 cooperatives (HTX), 4 linked groups participating in the value chain of key agricultural products. Currently, the province has 26,905.7 hectares of production according to organic and GAP standards. The value chains of green-skin pomelo, rambutan, seedlings - ornamental flowers... are strongly developing associated with the formation of cooperatives, THT, and input-output linkages.

Industry - handicraft

According to Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Ngoc Tam, industrial production and handicraft activities continue to recover. Enterprises and establishments are focusing on increasing production to serve Tet demand, contributing to creating momentum to achieve the growth and development target for the whole year. Sector II grew by 11.1%, a bright spot among the three sectors. The value of industrial and handicraft production is estimated at VND9,180 billion (2010 comparable prices), up 11.95% over the same period, reaching 20.58% of the plan. Major industrial products grew quite well.

Production activities in industrial parks (IPs) and industrial clusters (ICs) are maintained. Phu Thuan IP is being accelerated. Districts and cities are actively calling for infrastructure investment as well as proposing solutions to arrange and mobilize capital to develop ICs in the management area. Currently, the province has 8 ICs established, with a total area of ​​317.9402ha; 7 ICs have detailed planning, with a total area of ​​299.4ha. Of which, the industrial land area is 216.37ha, 87.8879ha has been leased, with an occupancy rate of about 40.62%. 4 ICs have been invested and put into operation. The ICs have 28 registered investment projects, with a total registered investment capital of about 6,656.371 billion VND.

In the first quarter of 2025, there were 18 delegations of domestic and foreign investors coming to explore investment cooperation opportunities. The province supported 289 investors/enterprises. Granted 5 new domestic projects, with registered capital of VND 1,177.54 billion, reaching 14.72% of the annual plan; granted adjustments to 4 projects (3 FDI and 1 domestic); terminated operations of 2 domestic projects. There were 174 enterprises and 73 newly established affiliated units with registered capital of VND 586.35 billion, an increase of 55.36% in the number of enterprises and 67.77% in registered capital over the same period, reaching 31.64% in the number of enterprises and 12.75% in registered capital compared to the annual plan (550 enterprises and VND 4,600 billion).

Total retail sales of consumer goods and services are estimated at VND17,997 billion, up 7.09% over the same period, reaching 22.64% of the plan. To date, the province has 153 OCOP products certified with 3 stars or more; cumulatively, the province has 341 OCOP products with 3 stars or more from 174 entities.

Export turnover reached an estimated 452.22 million USD, up 19.61% over the same period and reaching 23.43% of the yearly plan. The group of industrial and handicraft products accounted for the highest proportion, with 81.91% compared to the export groups. Import turnover reached 116.34 million USD, up 11.62% over the same period and reaching 21.15% of the yearly plan.

The tourism sector has seen many improvements. The province welcomed 781,085 visitors, up 34.9% over the same period, reaching 27.7% of the plan; total revenue is estimated at 1,017 billion VND, up 42.2% over the same period, reaching 26.8% of the plan.

As of March 18, 2025, the province disbursed over VND 374.46 billion of public investment capital, reaching 5.06% of the plan. In the first quarter of 2025, the estimated state budget revenue in the area was VND 2,357.2 billion, reaching 36.95% of the central budget estimate, reaching 36.9% of the local budget estimate, up 8.76% over the same period.
