Vietnam Publishing Association in coordination with Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee organized the Executive Board Conference of Southeast Asian Publishing Association and sideline activities from September 14-16.
Attending the conference were delegations from member countries of the ASEAN Book Publishers Association (ABPA); representatives of domestic agencies and units such as: Central Propaganda Department, Ministry of Information and Communications, Vietnam Publishing Association, Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City.

Taking place on September 15 at the Ho Chi Minh City Press Center, the Conference is a forum for ABPA members to review the current situation, exchange experiences, and propose solutions to enhance cooperation in the regional publishing sector, especially in the context of digital transformation and increasingly deep international integration.
The conference will focus on the following topics: reviewing the current status of the publishing industry in member countries; discussing proposals to promote intra-bloc cooperation, enhancing exchanges, understanding, and copyright transactions between member countries; discussing and deciding which country will assume the role of ABPA rotating chairman for the 2024-2025 term.
Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Minh Tuan, Deputy Editor-in-Chief in charge of Communist Magazine, Chairman of Vietnam Publishing Association, and rotating Chairman of ABPA, emphasized: "After reviewing the publishing situation of each country in the past year, delegates will contribute ideas to strengthen current activities and further promote the role of the association in the region and internationally."
On the sidelines of the conference, the Vietnam Publishing Association will organize an international scientific conference "Protecting book copyright in cyberspace" on September 15 at the Ho Chi Minh City Press Center hall.
The workshop is a forum for scientists, policy makers, managers, and publishing units in Vietnam and Southeast Asian countries to exchange experiences and solutions to enhance the effectiveness of book copyright protection in the context of digital transformation and international integration in the publishing sector.
The workshop will focus on the following topics: identifying copyright infringements on digital platforms; Current status of copyright protection for books on digital platforms in Vietnam and Southeast Asian countries; experiences and proposed solutions for copyright protection for books on digital platforms in Southeast Asian countries.
The Organizing Committee hopes that member countries will have a joint statement to contribute to preventing copyright infringement in books in general and in cyberspace in particular.
In addition, to celebrate the Conference, Ho Chi Minh City Book Street coordinated with publishers to organize a book exhibition about President Ho Chi Minh and other Party and State leaders from September 14-16.
The exhibition displays about 100 Vietnamese, foreign and bilingual books, divided into 3 clusters: Ho Chi Minh Book Space; books by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong translated into 7 languages; books by Party and State leaders.
In addition, ABPA members also participated in other sideline activities to better understand Vietnamese culture and publishing such as: Visiting Ben Nha Rong relic, Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, Phuong Nam and Fahasa bookstore systems.
