Strengthening friendly exchanges between Hanoi and localities of Argentina

During the meeting with Hanoi city leaders, Argentine Ambassador to Vietnam Marcos Antonio Bednarski hoped for more friendly exchange activities such as organizing outdoor tango dancing events in Hanoi and exchanging football experiences between Argentina and Vietnam.

On the afternoon of October 15, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council, received Argentine Ambassador to Vietnam Marcos Antonio Bednarski for a courtesy visit on the occasion of his new term.

At the meeting, Ambassador Marcos Antonio Bednarski stated that for the Argentine people, Vietnam is a heroic nation and has a socio-economic development model worth learning from. In economic relations, Vietnam is Argentina's third largest trading partner in Asia. Ambassador Marcos Antonio Bednarski said that Argentina's economy is currently ranked third in Latin America and is undergoing "transformation". Trade relations between the two countries are complementary.

In order to strengthen the friendship and solidarity between the two countries, on the occasion of Argentina's National Tango Day, Ambassador Marcos Antonio Bednarski proposed to organize an outdoor tango event in Hanoi for the capital's people to attend and better understand the culture of this South American country. The Ambassador also expressed that football is a strong point of Argentina and Argentina can support Vietnamese football as well as help young people increase physical activity and sports to improve their health.

Emphasizing that both sides have many similarities and potential for cooperation, Ambassador Marcos Antonio Bednarski affirmed that in his new role, he will make every effort to connect and promote the relationship between the two countries, as well as the capital Hanoi and Argentine localities.

Agreeing with the opinions of Ambassador Marcos Antonio Bednarski, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Ngoc Tuan also shared his good impressions of the recent working trip of the Hanoi delegation with very good impressions of the capital Buenos Aires. The delegation had many meaningful activities in Argentina and realized that the two countries and two cities have many friendly similarities and great potential for cooperation.

Chairman of the City People's Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan said that Hanoi has a long-standing cultural and historical tradition, with thousands of cultural relics and traditional craft villages. Hanoi's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the third quarter of 2024 increased by 6.06% over the same period last year. In the first 9 months of 2024, the City's GRDP increased by 6.12% over the same period.

Hanoi has many old quarters and many new urban areas under development. Hanoi currently has cooperative relations with more than 100 capitals and cities around the world. Through embassies, diplomatic missions and international organizations, Hanoi has many opportunities for economic and trade cooperation, many bilateral and multilateral cooperation projects in various fields.

Since 1973, Vietnam and Argentina have established diplomatic relations. Over the past 50 years, the two countries have had a long-standing traditional friendship, however, the investment turnover between the two countries is still modest. Therefore, during this term, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Ngoc Tuan expects Ambassador Marcos Antonio Bednarski to promote cooperation activities between the two countries as well as Hanoi and localities of Argentina to match the potential of both sides in all areas of trade, investment, culture, environment, transportation, and people-to-people exchange.
