Quang Tri - Salavan strengthen cooperation on border work

On March 3, in Salavan province (Laos), the annual border talks between Quang Tri and Salavan provinces in 2024 took place. Through discussions, the two provinces agreed to sign the minutes of the annual talks in 2025 with many contents.

At the meeting, Head of the Vietnam - Laos Border Steering Committee of Quang Tri province Ha Sy Dong and Deputy Governor, Head of the Laos - Vietnam Border Steering Committee of Salavan Phu-thong Kham-ma-ny-vong province informed each other about the outstanding results in the socio-economic fields and border work of the two provinces in 2024.

The leaders of the two localities agreed to sign the minutes of the annual talks in 2025 with the following contents: maintaining the implementation of propaganda, dissemination, education and mobilization of people in border areas to comply with legal documents on the border between Vietnam and Laos; maintaining the bilateral patrol coordination regime to protect the border and border markers; enhancing the exchange of information and situations to combat, prevent and promptly handle acts affecting the border, border markers, and violations of border regulations.

Along with that, strengthen the work of preventing and combating illegal entry and exit activities and free migration in border areas; prevent and combat cross-border crimes; and facilitate cross-border activities at border gates.

The two localities will also pay attention to investing and upgrading infrastructure to ensure operational efficiency as well as compatibility and synchronization between the two sides; coordinate bilateral surveys to unify the roadmap and specific plans to propose to the Governments of Vietnam and Laos to upgrade the pair of secondary border gates Coc - A Xoc to main border gates when ensuring conditions and standards.
