At around 6am, a truck with a HCM City license plate driven by Doan Minh Thanh, 25, was travelling north-south on the Vinh Hao – Phan Thiet highway. Sitting in the passenger seat in the cabin was the assistant driver Truong Huu Nhan, 28.

When reaching the section passing through Hong Liem commune, Ham Thuan Bac district, the car suddenly collided with a truck with a crane and a Dong Nai license plate that was stopped in the same direction in front (not an emergency stop) due to a flat tire.

The strong impact caused the front of the truck to be deformed and stuck to the back of the crane. The assistant driver Nhan was thrown out of the cabin, hit the crane, and died on the spot. The truck driver suffered minor injuries.

Traffic police have come to regulate vehicles passing through here to avoid congestion and coordinate with local police to examine the scene and investigate the accident.
