As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , from the draft resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on administrative unit arrangement stating "priority for arranging mountainous and delta units with coastal administrative units...", experts assessed that merging Dak Nong and Lam Dong into Binh Thuan would create an advantage towards the sea for the two Central Highlands provinces that are located deep inland.
192km of sea frontage
Currently, Binh Thuan has the advantage of a 192km long "sea front" and Vinh Tan international seaport (north of the province).
In the future, Binh Thuan will also form Son My seaport in the south of the province. Binh Thuan province is managing and exploiting a sea area of about 52,000km2 .
Binh Thuan sea area is one of the three largest fishing grounds in the country, with seafood reserves ranging from 220,000 to 240,000 tons. In the future, Binh Thuan sea area will also be home to offshore wind power projects.
Regarding the road system, Binh Thuan province has the nearly 200km long "backbone" National Highway 1, which is the gateway connecting the coastal provinces of the Central region and the Central Highlands with the key economic region of the South, Ho Chi Minh City.
Recently, three sections of the North-South expressway in the east, including Cam Ranh - Vinh Hao, Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet, are continuously about 160km long, passing through Binh Thuan province.
Since the North-South expressway system in the east was put into operation, the traffic congestion in Binh Thuan province has been cleared.
In its periodic socio-economic report, Binh Thuan province said there have been many improvements, especially in the tourism industry, since the above expressway sections were put into operation.
A leader of Binh Thuan province said that the number of visitors to Binh Thuan province increased even higher than in the years before the COVID-19 pandemic, especially domestic visitors. In 2023, the province's tourism industry will be in the top 10 nationwide, with revenue of over VND10,000 billion.
During an inspection of the industrial park area in Ham Tan district, Binh Thuan Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hoai Anh said that the southern area of the province, including Son My port, has many great advantages as it is close to Long Thanh airport and Cai Mep - Thi Vai port.
He affirmed that when the industrial parks in Ham Tan district come into operation, being close to major traffic routes will open up new development space and create a stable source of income for the province.
Air and road ready for seamless connection
Regarding aviation, Binh Thuan province is currently completing procedures for the civil project of Phan Thiet airport to strive to put it into operation in sync with the defense project by 2026.
This is a dual-use airport, combining military and civil use. The military section and runways have been completed. The civil section is completing procedures to upgrade from 4C to 4E, adding opportunities to open international routes and increase passenger capacity.
Binh Thuan province is also one of the localities expected to have two stations in the North-South high-speed railway system.
The province is also completing a closed coastal road system, opening up new development space and connecting with other key infrastructure projects.
Recently, the Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee held a meeting to listen to reports from specialized agencies on the progress of the nearly 7,000 billion VND road connecting the central coastal area of Phan Thiet to the North-South railway system, the eastern North-South expressway and in the future, the North-South expressway system.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Hoai Anh said that the above project will open up new space, create new momentum to contribute to promoting the development of the province's East-West economic corridor.
The route is expected to have 12 lanes, a length of more than 20km with a total investment of about 6,990 billion VND, including reserve land for investment in a future urban light rail system synchronized with the road route.
Regarding the roadmap, it is expected that phase 1 (2026 - 2030) will complete the site clearance work for the entire route. This phase will invest in completing 6 motor vehicle lanes and technical infrastructure works, with a total investment of about 6,470 billion VND.
