Mr. Tran Dinh Chung - marketing manager of Co.opmart Ha Tinh supermarket said: "During holidays, the number of customers coming to the supermarket to shop increases by about 15 - 20% compared to normal days. With attractive discount programs, many people buy a large amount of goods. Consumer demand focuses on goods, fresh food, industrial food, spices, fashion...".

Going shopping with her children on the afternoon of September 2, Ms. Bui Thi Thu Huyen (Nguyen Du ward, Ha Tinh city) shared: “Many previous holidays, my family also traveled far away but each time we had to squeeze in a large crowd, so this year, we only went to the city to have fun and returned to our hometown in Huong Son. On this occasion, supermarkets have many promotional programs with good prices, so we also took the opportunity to buy more household items and school supplies for our children.”

According to traders and business owners, during the holidays, many families choose supermarkets and shopping malls as places for entertainment and shopping. Along with that, many Ha Tinh people living in other provinces and cities return to their hometowns to visit their families and celebrate the holidays, so the demand for shopping increases. It is estimated that purchasing power at supermarkets and shopping malls during the holidays increases by about 20-50% compared to normal days.

Representatives of stores, supermarkets, and shopping centers also said that during this holiday, to meet people's shopping needs, they have prepared abundant sources of goods. At the same time, they have stepped up the implementation of many promotional programs to attract customers such as deep discounts, buy 1 get 1 free, gifts and vouchers, and lucky draws...

Meanwhile, at Ha Tinh City Market, during the holidays, the fresh food area or the clothing, footwear, and household items in the market are also more crowded than usual. Traders said that in addition to the main customers being city residents like usual, on this occasion, there are also customers from other districts and towns coming to shop, thus, the consumption of goods increases.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang - a clothing vendor at Ha Tinh City Market said: "During the end of summer, because the new school year is about to start, customers come to the market to shop more than in previous periods. Especially, during the holidays, the number of customers increases about twice compared to normal days. The prices of clothing at the market are moderate, only about 100,000 - 300,000 VND/product, so many customers choose to buy many products."

In fact, not only are essential consumer goods stores crowded with customers, but electronics supermarkets and fashion stores also see customers flocking to shop during the holidays.

Mr. Vo Chi Dai - Director of Mediamart Center, Ha Tinh branch said: "We have launched a promotion program to celebrate the 2/9 holiday from August 28 and will last until September 5 with discounts of up to 70% on many items. During the holidays that coincide with the weekend, the number of customers visiting, shopping and the center's revenue increased by about 200 - 300% compared to normal days. The strongest consumption is focused on refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, televisions... and mainly customers buy combos of equipment to complete their new homes".

Obviously, incentive programs to stimulate purchasing power during the holidays are one of the effective solutions to help businesses boost production and business, increase sales. The strong increase in consumption of goods during the holidays will contribute to the continued growth of the trade and service sector in the last months of the year.

According to the General Statistics Office, in the first 8 months of 2023, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue reached about 46,249 billion VND, an increase of 16.59% over the same period last year. In 2023, the industry and trade sector aims to increase total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue by more than 15% compared to 2022 (in 2022, it reached more than 61,356 billion VND).

The Department of Industry and Trade also focuses on supporting the preparation of goods and supplies, promoting the connection between supply and demand of goods; effectively implementing the market stabilization program; organizing the connection of the province's distribution enterprises with local sources of goods to ensure the balance of supply and demand of essential goods from now until the end of the year.
