(NLDO) – The money from collecting plastic bottles is used by the student group to raise funds for scholarships and organize community activities for students.
After overcoming the "7 days of green living" challenge - an environmental protection activity launched by the University of Finance and Marketing - Le Phu Hao, a marketing student, suddenly "loved" the green lifestyle more.
Every day when going to school, Hao always carries a personal water bottle and a cloth bag, always in his backpack. From habits to actions, Hao started to want to spread the message of green living more.
Students collect plastic bottles to raise funds
The student and his group of friends launched the "Recycled Scrap" program in the dormitory area where they live. Through promotional posts on the fanpage, the number of students participating in the program has increased day by day.
"Instead of going to each room to encourage friends to protect the environment, I write attractive posts with stories on the fanpage. After each room finishes using plastic bottles, they will be collected by themselves. When the day comes for the entire dormitory to be collected, I just need to post an announcement, and friends will bring them to the collection point to help us" - Hao said.
Hao said the money from selling plastic bottles will be used to raise funds for scholarships and organize community activities for students...

Similarly, Saigon University also launched a green living challenge and received much support from students.
"Thanks to participating in this movement, I learned that there are some milk tea shops that offer discounts when customers bring their own water bottles. It protects the environment and saves money at the same time" - Minh Tuyet, a student at Saigon University, excitedly said.
At Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, the green living spirit spreads more widely through student scientific research projects such as projects to produce bricks from plastic waste, consumer products made from leaves, etc.
MSc. Nguyen Thi Kim Phung, Deputy Director of the Center for Admissions and Business Relations - University of Finance and Marketing, said that after a period of implementing the green living movement, students' living habits have had many positive changes.
Students are more aware of protecting the environment, through small actions such as using cloth bags instead of plastic bags in activities and programs, bringing personal water bottles, participating in activities to collect scrap to protect the environment, participating in volunteer programs to clean and collect garbage on the streets, posting signs on electric poles, participating in Green Sunday...

"The number of students participating in sports clubs has also increased, which shows that students are becoming more aware of exercising. The green living movement not only helps improve the surrounding environment but also creates a sense of personal and community responsibility in the young generation, and encourages them to spread this positive lifestyle to those around them" - Master Phung said.
