Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will step down on May 15 and nominate Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong as his successor. The information was released by the Singapore Prime Minister's Office on April 15.
According to the announcement, Mr. Lee Hsien Loong, 72 years old, will officially submit to the President of Singapore to nominate Mr. Wong as his successor. Mr. Wong is currently the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Singapore. The announcement stated that Mr. Wong received the absolute support of the parliamentarians in the ruling People's Action Party (PAP) and will take office on May 15.
Immediately after the announcement from the Prime Minister's Office, Mr. Wong also confirmed that he would succeed Mr. Lee Hsien Loong and work with the highest sense of responsibility.
