Mr. Matthias Rebellius, Member of the Executive Board, Global CEO Smart Infrastructure of Siemens AG and Mr. Dolf van den Brink, CEO, Chairman of the Executive Board of Heineken
The carbon neutrality programme aims to achieve significant energy savings and a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions at more than 15 breweries globally by 2025, while supporting Heineken’s global net zero roadmap, which aims to achieve net zero by 2030 and net zero across the entire value chain by 2040.
Accordingly, Siemens will deploy solutions and services from the Siemens Xcelerator platform to reduce energy consumption at more than 15 Heineken Group production plants, including facilities in Asia-Pacific, the Americas and Europe.
The two companies have already worked together on an initial project that involved simulating and analyzing a virtual factory to identify areas where significant energy savings could be made. The simulation showed that approximately 70% of the energy used was related to the heating and cooling required for the manufacturing process. By optimizing and monitoring these heating and cooling systems throughout the end-to-end process, Siemens estimates that it could achieve energy savings of 15-20% per facility and CO2 reductions of an average of 50% per facility.
To achieve the set energy consumption and CO2 reduction targets, Siemens will deploy a comprehensive program of scalable and replicable solutions and services across Heineken's global production sites.
As part of the long-term partnership agreement, Siemens will also provide a five-year implementation and monitoring contract, connecting manufacturing plants to Siemens systems and using data services to remotely monitor production facilities, ensuring that the best solution is in place at all times.
