Inspiration to give
Mr. Pham Tuan Vu, 32 years old, is the "leader" of the Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Youth Club. In addition to being busy with work and family life, Mr. Vu is very enthusiastic and active in blood donation activities. He considers this act not only a responsibility but also a mutual love and support for people with serious and fatal illnesses. Thanks to the enthusiasm of the leader, the members of the club are always active propagandists to inspire humanitarian blood donation in the community.
For over 10 years, the Hai Duong Voluntary Blood Donation Youth Club has been operating steadily. The members are all dynamic, active, youthful and always willing to donate drops of blood to save the lives of many people in need. Everyone is enthusiastic and volunteers to donate blood regardless of day or night, weekdays or holidays. Not only that, the club members are also thoughtful and dedicated volunteers in blood donation campaigns launched by agencies and organizations.
“The club has only 39 members but has created a great impact on the humanitarian blood donation activities of students in the province. The members come from different agencies, units and schools but are all compassionate and willing to share blood. Therefore, the Red Journeys and the Red Spring Festivals are more successful than expected,” said Mr. Vu.
Carrying the rare blood type B (Rh-), Mr. Vu Hoang Dieu has donated blood many times to support critically ill patients. However, Mr. Dieu still has not stopped worrying because rare blood is very precious, not always available to serve and treat patients promptly. Therefore, he cherished the idea of gathering people with rare blood types in Hai Duong to multiply noble deeds in society. After connecting with many people with rare blood types who share the same aspirations, at the end of 2024, the Hai Duong Rare Blood Type Club was established with more than 40 members.
Although living and working in Quang Ninh, Mr. Dieu always closely follows the club's activities. More than anyone, he understands the danger of patients with rare blood types who must receive blood transfusions. Mr. Dieu confided: "The club is a common home for people with rare blood types in the province. They are willing to give and do not want to receive anything in return. I hope the club will be a bridge, a support for each person with rare blood types to protect the community as well as protect themselves."
For the community

In recent years, the blood donation movement to save lives in Hai Duong has recorded positive results. In addition to typical individuals, this humanitarian and voluntary activity also has the participation of associations, groups and clubs with the role of volunteers. Currently, the whole province has 5 blood donation clubs with more than 520 members. Each member has different jobs and positions but they all share a compassionate heart. From there, it creates a spread in the community, helping the source of blood to save lives no longer be a great pressure for the medical team and patients.
For many years, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh in An Thuong commune (Hai Duong city) has been enthusiastically participating in the voluntary blood donation movement. She said that in the past, she did not pay attention to or care about blood donation. Since being propagated, mobilized, and accessing information related to blood donation to save lives, she began to learn about this humanitarian activity. Boldly donating blood, Ms. Oanh learned more stories and noble hearts of many people who are willing to donate blood, and clearly understood the process of bringing blood to patients. Therefore, from being hesitant and reserved, Ms. Oanh became an active member in blood donation movements.
Although now retired, when she saw the blood donation organization, Ms. Oanh signed up to participate. “Donating blood regularly, I feel healthier and more excited. By helping people, I feel useful to society,” Ms. Oanh said excitedly.
The voluntary blood donation movement in Hai Duong has spread widely and is organized systematically. The number of blood units collected increases every year and blood donation activities are also more diverse and effective.
According to the leader of the provincial Red Cross Society, people who volunteer to donate blood are valuable, but those who spread that spirit are even more valuable. They not only voluntarily give their blood, but also volunteer to be propagandists to encourage people to open their arms for the community. Gradually, donating blood has become a beautiful cultural feature, promoting the tradition of mutual love and support of our ancestors for many generations.
