According to Talksport , although Sergio Reguilon was loaned to Man Utd from Tottenham until the end of this season, the "Red Devils" decided to cut short the Spanish defender's loan period and return him to the North London team this January.
Previously, the Old Trafford team borrowed Reguilon to replace the injured left-back duo Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. However, the 27-year-old defender only made 12 appearances for Man Utd in all competitions, playing a total of 655 minutes.

In a total of 12 appearances, Reguilon started 7 times and the last match he started, Man Utd suffered a disastrous 0-3 home defeat to Bournemouth in December 2023.
In the match against Nottingham Forest on December 31, Reguilon came off the bench but Man Utd continued to lose 1-2, ending the calendar year 2023 in 7th place overall in the Premier League rankings.
According to the Dailymail , the reason Man Utd parted ways with Reguilon earlier than expected was because the duo Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia were about to return from injury, as well as the fact that coach Ten Hag's team was eliminated from the Champions League and Carabao Cup.
In the January transfer window, Man Utd will have a huge change in the squad when the "Red Devils" say goodbye to many players and hope to add new faces that can help coach Ten Hag overcome the crisis in the second half of the season.
