During FIFA Days in March 2025, the Vietnam team will have two matches with Cambodia (friendly) and Laos (2027 Asian Cup qualifiers).

Notably, to prepare for the friendly match with Vietnam on March 19, Cambodia announced a very strong squad with 5 naturalized players.

These players include: Kan Mo (South African origin), Yudai Ogawa, Takaki Ose (Japan), midfielder Andres Nieto (Colombia) and striker Abdel Kader Coulibaly (Ivory Coast).

Evaluating the naturalized Cambodian stars, center back Bui Tien Dung said that they have good quality but cannot compare with foreign players in V-League.

“Cambodia’s naturalized players performed very well at the AFF Cup 2024. The team had video sessions to analyze the Cambodian players.

But the naturalized players of Cambodia cannot compare with the foreign players playing in V-League. But we will still concentrate because we have never played with them," Tien Dung commented.

Tien Dung's comments are completely justified because the two football backgrounds of Vietnam and Cambodia have a huge difference.

Previously, the brightest star of the Cambodian National Championship, Marcio Marques, only lasted half a season in the Nam Dinh Club shirt.

Speaking more about the match against Cambodia, Tien Dung said that this is the right time for the Vietnamese coaching staff to test new players.

“With the match against Cambodia, this is a friendly match so the coaching staff will probably use some new players or players who have not played for a long time. I think this is a useful match for the whole team to look forward to the important match against Laos in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

As a player, my teammates and I try to practice hard and demonstrate the intentions set by the coaching board to help the Vietnamese team achieve the best results," Tien Dung concluded.

According to the schedule, the match between Vietnam and Cambodia will take place at 7:30 p.m. on March 19 at Binh Duong Stadium.
