Build pride

Attending the meeting of generations of retired and transferred Border Guard officers, who are living and working in the province, organized by the Provincial Border Guard Tradition Liaison Committee on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the Phu Yen Border Guard Tradition Day (August 25, 1965 - August 25, 2024), I was truly moved by the images of uncles and aunts meeting each other, shaking hands, telling each other the joys and sorrows of everyday life, and celebrating the longevity of older members. The old story has not ended, they have started a new story because they are afraid that time will pass without sharing all the joys of the meeting.

During the meeting, the members were informed by the leaders of the Provincial Border Guard Command about the border and island situation of the province, an overview of the results of border work and the achievements that the officers and soldiers of the Provincial Border Guard have achieved in protecting national sovereignty and security, participating in socio-economic development of the coastal border area, key activities in 2024 and reviewing the fine traditions of the Border Guard force.

Colonel Nguyen Van Tham, former Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard, shared: “Most of the members are retired cadres, old and weak, so meeting each other is very precious. This is an opportunity to review traditions and foster friendship, comradeship and team spirit. Therefore, in the following meetings, we also agreed to invite the wives or husbands of the members to attend to be more proud and understand each other better. These meetings are also political and ideological activities, making all cadres and soldiers always deeply aware of the value of “loyalty to the Party, filial piety to the people” and fostering national pride for the younger generation.”

According to Colonel Ninh Cong Huan, Head of the Provincial Border Guard Tradition Liaison Committee, excited by the achievements of the country as well as the province, generations of members in the Liaison Committee have absolute confidence in the leadership of the Party and the socialist regime. The ideological situation of the members has been promoted well, constantly improving their political capacity, strictly implementing the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's policies and laws. Many members continue to participate in the work of building the locality where they reside, such as participating in the People's Council delegates at all levels; serving as presidents, vice presidents of the War Veterans Association, secretaries and ward chiefs...; actively working in production to develop the family economy, which is highly appreciated by the local Party Committee and government.

“Organizing the annual traditional meeting is an opportunity to encourage generations of members to preserve and promote the qualities and traditions of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and the green-uniformed soldiers. Thereby, actively participating in building and protecting the achievements of the revolution, the socialist regime, protecting the people, and the legitimate and legal rights and interests of members. At the same time, listening to each person’s thoughts to do a good job of caring for and helping each other in life,” Mr. Huan added.
