The bustling opening of the 2024 National Band Festival

On October 31, in Son Tay, Hanoi, the People's Committee of Son Tay town chaired and coordinated with the Vietnam Musicians Association and the Hanoi Music Association to organize the opening ceremony of the 2024 National Band Festival.

The 2024 National Band Festival is a practical activity to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Son Tay town and the 555th anniversary of the name Son Tay.

Attending the opening ceremony of the Festival were comrades: Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, Associate Professor, Doctor of Musician Do Hong Quan; Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians Association, Head of the Festival Steering Committee, musician Nguyen Duc Trinh; comrades in the Standing Committee of the Town Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee, leaders of a number of departments, offices, agencies, units and a large audience to watch and cheer on the festival.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, Mr. Le Dai Thang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Tay town, Hanoi emphasized: "The festival is a cultural and artistic activity that brings to the people of Son Tay town and tourists a rich, diverse and high-quality musical program; thereby creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere, contributing to the development of the cultural and artistic movement in the community. This is also an opportunity for artists from all over the country to gather, exchange, learn, share and exchange experiences in artistic activities, in order to improve professional skills, continue to create quality artistic products to serve society, thereby contributing to propaganda, education and spreading the image of love for the homeland, the country and the Vietnamese people in the new era".

Sharing with The World and Vietnam Newspaper on the sidelines of the event, Chief of Office of the Hanoi Musicians Association, musician Nguyen Ba Mon said: "Although the preparation time was quite short, the Organizing Committee welcomed them very well. Artists from all over the country gathered here to exchange in a very lively atmosphere."

Musician Nguyen Ba Mon added: "The 2024 National Band Festival will feature 9 bands representing public and non-public music and dance units nationwide, including: Phuong Dong Band, Young Soldiers Band, Golden Hour Band; Au Co Band, Makesense Band, Trung Vuong Theater Band, Da Nang, Viu Band, SandBox Band, and Nang Moi Band. With performance styles of Pop, Rock, Jazz or new complex genres combined with exploitation of other technological effects."

Musician Le Minh Son, a member of the jury, shared with TG&VN : "This year, each band participating in the festival will perform 4 acts, including 2 ensemble acts, using 1 foreign work and 2 Vietnamese songs, including 1 song about Hanoi. Today's opening ceremony will feature 2 professional bands, Phuong Dong and Linh Tre, with good professional quality. In my opinion, there are a few international-class players... for example, the trombol artist of the Young Soldiers band of the military school. The children need more opportunities to compete and participate in more playgrounds."

The festival is a major music festival with bands from all over the country. To prepare well for the festival, the Town People's Committee has strengthened information and propaganda work, ensured infrastructure, venue, sound and lighting systems and other technical conditions. The Town has strengthened security and order, traffic safety, fire prevention and fighting, medical work, environmental sanitation, etc.

The National Band Festival is a connection between music and the public, renewing the musical life. Each band has its own colors, sending impressive and attractive performances to the Art Council and music lovers. This is an opportunity to direct the audience, especially young people, to enjoy live music, promote solidarity, collective activities, and at the same time, orient the development of bands in the present era, creating a premise to promote the cultural and musical industry of Hanoi in particular and the whole country in general.

The 2024 National Band Festival takes place from October 31 to November 2.
