KYODO. Companies in Japan raised or plan to raise average monthly wages for employees by a record high 3.2%, or 9,437 yen ($64), in 2023.
JIJI. A US Osprey military aircraft crashed into the sea near Japan's Yakushima Island, killing at least one of the eight people on board.
MINT. India and the US are planning to launch a joint remote sensing satellite in the first quarter of 2024, Indian Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh said after a meeting with a high-level NASA delegation in New Delhi.
PTI. At least 24 workers were injured in a fire at a chemical plant in the Indian state of Gujarat, possibly caused by a chemical leak in a large storage tank.
HINDU. Sri Lanka needs $100 billion to become a net zero emissions nation by 2040, President Ranil Wickremesinghe has said.
NEWS WIRE. Sri Lanka's Department of Immigration and Emigration said the country is exempting visas for residents of China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia and Japan.
AP. Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh beat out South Korea's Busan and Italy's Rome to win the right to host the 2030 World Expo in a vote in Paris, France.
TIMES OF ISRAEL. Israel will launch a program to support garlic farmers in a bid to save the industry from extinction and ensure domestic supply, with a total budget of NIS 3 million (about $820,000).
AL JAZEERA. The United Nations has called on the international community to move towards a two-state solution to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, reaffirming that Jerusalem should be the capital of both states.

HELSINGIN SANOMAT. Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo said the last border checkpoint with Russia would be closed in response to the worsening migration problem.

AP. The United States and its allies remain steadfast in their support for Ukraine despite doubts about future assistance and the stalemate in the conflict in the Eastern European country, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said.

AP. US President Joe Biden spoke by phone with his UAE counterpart Mohammed bin Zayed and discussed the war in the Middle East as well as the upcoming climate summit.
WHITE HOUSE. US Vice President Kamala Harris will be in Dubai (UAE) from December 1-2 to attend the COP28 Conference, on behalf of President Joe Biden.
POLITICO. The US Department of Defense currently does not have enough funds to increase military forces in the Middle East.
CBC NEWS. The Canadian government and Google have reached an agreement to resolve disputes over the Online News Act, also known as Bill C-18.
REUTERS. In a video posted on YouTube, the commander of the Royal Canadian Navy warned that the force is so short of resources and manpower that it is about to be unable to fulfill its basic commitments.

EGYPT NEWS. Egypt and Qatar are working together to push for an extension of the temporary humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

AFRICA NEWS. The Senegalese Navy seized nearly 3 tons of cocaine when searching a ship anchored offshore - one of the largest drug shipments in Senegal detected by authorities.
XINHUA. The Libyan Illegal Migration Control Bureau repatriated 248 illegal migrants , including 120 deported by air to Niger and 128 deported by land to Chad.
AFP. Humanitarian agencies are calling on leaders attending the COP28 conference in the UAE to find lasting solutions for those affected by the climate crisis in Somalia.
SUDAN TRIBUNE. Humanitarian agencies in South Sudan have launched a Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan, seeking $1.8 billion to reach 6 million people in need of humanitarian assistance by 2024.
Xinhua News Agency. Tanzanian police said at least 13 passengers were killed and 25 others were seriously injured when a bus carrying them collided with a train in the central province of Singida.
Oceania
ABC. The Indo-Pacific region is in the midst of a significant arms race that Australia must respond to, according to Australian Defence Industry Minister Pat Conroy.
