On the morning of June 18, in Hanoi, the book launch ceremony "Speak or Don't" took place and paid tribute to the authors Ly Sinh Su - Ha Van - Tran Chinh Duc - Tran Duc Chinh (Former Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Lao Dong Newspaper, Editor-in-Chief of Journalists and Public Opinion).
In 1994, the name Ly Sinh Su began to appear in the "Say or Don't" column of Lao Dong newspaper. Ly Sinh Su is associated with commentaries in the "provocative" style - daring to declare war on bad habits and even paradoxes in life.
His articles appeared regularly in the weekend and monthly issues and special editions of several other newspapers. Later, people learned that Ly Sinh Su - the author of hundreds of articles in the "Say or Don't" section of Lao Dong newspaper was journalist Tran Duc Chinh, also known by the pen name Ha Van, Tran Chinh Duc - former Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Lao Dong newspaper, Editor-in-Chief of Journalists and Public Opinion.
Delegates attending the book launch ceremony.
Journalist Tran Dinh Thao - a very close friend of journalist Ly Sinh Su - Tran Duc Chinh said, roughly calculating that, in the first 10 years of putting aside the column "Say or Don't", he wrote an article for the column every day, 30 articles a month, 360 days a year, 3,600 articles in 10 years in the form of journalistic sketches. Not to mention that he also had about 10% of his articles published in other newspapers, that is, about 4,000 sketches.
“Roughly calculating, Mr. Ly - as journalist Tran Dinh Thao calls journalist Ly Sinh Su - has had about 6,000 articles "Speak Well, Don't Post in Newspapers", meaning he has "caused trouble" with society, with officials, with the mechanism, with wrong things in life and has "addicted" many readers" , journalist Tran Dinh Thao said.
According to journalist Tran Dinh Thao, journalist Ly Sinh Su - Tran Duc Chinh is a writer who is loved and read by readers every day when they have the newspaper in their hands. His unique, different but coherent, rustic, and humorous writing style strangely attracts readers even though the article is only the size of a "hand" on the newspaper page. This book reaches readers when Mr. Ly has just turned 80 years old and just in time for the anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day on June 21 this year.
Journalist Tran Dinh Thao shared at the book launch ceremony.
At the ceremony, journalist Tran Lan Anh - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper expressed her deep gratitude to the editorial team for making and publishing the book "Speak or Don't" on the special occasion of the 99th Anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day. Sharing about the 6-year period from 2005-2011, journalist Tran Duc Chinh worked at the Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper, journalist Tran Lan Anh said that it was a difficult time both economically and in terms of personnel, but it was also a very warm time in terms of humanity and camaraderie.
"Mr. Tran Duc Chinh has inspired and spread stories of humane work to generations of journalists at the editorial office of Nha Bao & Cong Luan newspaper, so that we can contribute and "fight" together. That is the heart of an Editor-in-Chief, a true, talented and humane journalist," journalist Tran Lan Anh expressed.
Journalist Tran Lan Anh expressed her feelings when being mentored and inspired by journalist Ly Sinh Su.
Journalist Luu Quang Dinh - Editor-in-Chief of Nong Thon Ngay Nay/Dan Viet newspaper, editor-in-chief of the editorial team of the book "Say or Don't" said that the idea of making the book came from the special feelings of the editorial team, who are colleagues and also people who were guided and mentored a lot in journalism by journalist Tran Duc Chinh.
Talking about journalist Tran Duc Chinh, journalist Luu Quang Dinh said that Ly Sinh Su - Tran Duc Chinh is a person full of energy and joy of life, he likes to eat well and cooks very well. Journalist Thieu Mai - wife of journalist Ly Sinh Su - Tran Duc Chinh sent her thanks to the book's editorial team.
Journalist Do Doan Hoang - who always loved and respected journalist Tran Duc Chinh - Ly Sinh Su as "teacher" also confided: "To me, journalist Tran Duc Chinh is a "respectful but distant" teacher who has greatly influenced my career path...
It seems that everything that comes into Mr. Ly's hands causes trouble. He is old and a boss, so he keeps the column and the female staff in charge do not dare to ask for it until they see him submit it. They ask for it every day, because one article a day is too tiring. I think simply, what to do when you are sick, when you go to a party, when you are drunk, or when you oversleep and lose inspiration...
Rumor has it that when he went abroad, he could still calculate what would be "hot" in the public opinion in the next few days, so he took the initiative to write "Say or Don't" first, still good, still humorous and extremely on-point with current events.
Colleagues compiled the book "Say or Don't".
The book "Say or Don't" is 472 pages long, consisting of 4 parts. Part I includes 68 commentaries and journalistic pieces published in the "Say or Don't" section of Lao Dong newspaper from 1995 to 2012 under the pen name Ly Sinh Su.
