Hoanh Son Thanh Mau Festival 2025: Honoring Mother Goddess worship, attracting tourists from all over the world

According to Vietnamese folklore, Holy Mother Lieu Hanh is one of the "four immortals", revered by the people and called "Mother of the world". She descended to earth three times, manifesting her divine power to save the people and help the country. In order to remember the Holy Mother's merits, the people of Quang Binh built a temple right at the foot of Ngang Pass, where the statue of her once incarnated, building a grass hut to help the people.

A large number of people and tourists eagerly participated in the Hoanh Son Thanh Mau festival in 2025, immersing themselves in the sacred and vibrant atmosphere of the traditional cultural event.

Every year, from the 1st to the 3rd of the 3rd lunar month, people of Quang Dong commune celebrate the death anniversary of the Holy Mother with many traditional rituals, imbued with the identity of Mother worship.

From 2024, the People's Committee of Quang Trach district decided to upgrade the death anniversary of the Holy Mother to the district level, changing the name to "Hoanh Son Holy Mother" festival with an expanded scale, including many unique cultural and spiritual activities.

This year, due to the unusual weather, the District People's Committee decided not to hold the opening ceremony, but other activities still took place as planned. During the first two days of the festival, thousands of visitors flocked to offer incense, visit the scenery and experience spiritual rituals.

Ms. Tran Thi Van, Head of the Department of Culture, Science and Information of Quang Trach district, predicted that on the main death anniversary (the 3rd day of the 3rd lunar month) - the day the Holy Mother "disappeared without illness" - the number of visitors will increase dramatically.

The ceremony of carrying the decree of the God and the Holy Mother's robes from Vinh Son communal house to Lieu Hanh Holy Mother Temple took place in a solemn atmosphere, showing respect for the sacred Holy Mother.

Many visitors expressed their special feelings when participating in the festival, enjoying the sacred and solemn atmosphere of the event. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, a visitor from Nghe An , shared: “ I have heard a lot about the Holy Mother Lieu Hanh, but this is the first time I have directly participated in the festival. The majestic temple scene, along with the solemnly organized rituals, made me extremely moved. This is a memorable experience, helping me understand more about the Mother Goddess worship and the traditional cultural values ​​of the nation”.

Since 2024, the historical and cultural relic of Lieu Hanh Temple has been recognized by the People's Committee of Quang Binh province as a tourist destination, contributing to promoting spiritual tourism in the locality.
