Quang Nam awards 200 million VND to students who won prizes at the International Chemistry Olympiad

Ms. Van Phuong Trang, mother of student Do Phu Quoc (grade 12, Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted, Hoi An), said that on the afternoon of August 5, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province invited Quoc, his family, and teachers to attend the commendation ceremony.

At the program, Mr. Le Van Dung - Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee - expressed his joy and pride when the province had students achieving high results in international exams.

On behalf of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Le Van Dung presented a certificate of merit and a bonus of 200 million VND to Do Phu Quoc.

The two teachers who directly trained Do Phu Quoc, Ms. Nguyen Thi Trang and Mr. Doan Van Mien (Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted), also received certificates of merit and a bonus of 30 million VND each.

The 2024 International Chemistry Olympiad, held in Saudi Arabia in July, attracted more than 300 excellent students from 89 countries and territories around the world.

Do Phu Quoc is one of four Vietnamese students selected by the Ministry of Education and Training to attend.

Do Phu Quoc is a familiar face in the education sector of Quang Nam province with outstanding academic achievements.

In 2023, Quoc won a gold medal at the Abu Reikhan Beruniy International Chemistry Olympiad. Quang Nam Province then also held a ceremony to honor and reward him.

Do Phu Quoc's father and mother are both high school teachers in Hoi An. Born into a family with a strong academic background, Quoc was encouraged to pursue his passion.

Ms. Van Phuong Trang said that Do Phu Quoc chose the Chemistry Department - University of Natural Sciences (Hanoi) to study at university.
