Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu - Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Collective Economic Development, along with leaders of departments and branches, worked with the delegation.

Reporting at the meeting, Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment Doan Ngoc Quang said that Quang Nam has 613 cooperatives operating with more than 229,000 members; of which, 3,145 are regular workers, and 2,890 are also cooperative members.

The average revenue of each cooperative is over 3 billion VND/year, profit is about 608 million VND/year; the average income of members and workers is about 67 million VND/person/year. In addition, Quang Nam has 2 cooperative unions; 2,880 cooperative groups are operating with 12,001 members who are regular workers.

Mr. Doan Ngoc Quang said that many cooperatives focus on investing in applying technical advances, transferring technology, and transforming the structure of crops and livestock towards commodity production, actively contributing to the restructuring of the agricultural economy. Up to now, the province has 87 OCOP products of 73 cooperatives; of which 22 products have achieved 4 stars, 65 products have achieved 3 stars.

According to the assessment, cooperatives have created favorable conditions to support and promote the economic development of members and households, gradually overcoming some weaknesses of the household economy. Along with that, they support members in production and business, improve income, reduce poverty, and ensure social security in the locality.

In addition to the achieved results, cooperatives are still confused in accessing policies; human resources have not met the requirements of the tasks; the central support budget is allocated slowly; some policies do not have separate funding sources for implementation, mainly funding integrated into programs and projects, so they have not met the support needs of cooperatives.
