Mr. Nguyen Dinh Quang, Chairman of the People's Committee of Viet Vinh Commune (Bac Quang District, Ha Giang) said that the landslide occurred at km51 of National Highway 2 this morning, injuring about 10 people and 2 people missing. The landslide buried 2 houses and many cars and motorbikes. Currently, the authorities have blocked off the scene and organized search and rescue. Traffic on National Highway 2, Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang route, is paralyzed.

Previously, from the night of September 27 to 9:00 a.m. on September 29, in Bac Quang district, there was heavy to very heavy rain with thunderstorms and lightning in some communes and towns: Thuong Binh, Dong Tam, Viet Vinh, Huu San, Kim Ngoc, Tan Lap, Tan Thanh...

As of 9am today, floodwaters swept away Mrs. Van Thi X. (54 years old), residing in Viet Vinh commune. Currently, the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Viet Vinh commune is mobilizing functional forces to search.

In Dong Tam commune, a landslide buried the kitchen of Mr. Mai Ngoc T.'s family (Ban Buot village) and Mai Thi Ch. (5th grade student) could not escape.

Forces are urgently approaching the scene to organize a search. According to preliminary statistics, heavy rain has caused damage to 15 households in Viet Vinh and Dong Tam communes, Bac Quang district.

Immediately after receiving the information, Bac Quang District Police sent forces to the scene to assess the situation, verify the damage and support people in overcoming the consequences of the natural disaster. The force also helped households living in areas at risk of landslides move to safety.

The Traffic Police Department of Ha Giang Province Police has also arranged forces and vehicles to patrol, control and regulate traffic to ensure order and traffic safety.
