Dong Van district has 225 villages in 19 communes and towns. Each village on Dong Van Stone Plateau (Ha Giang) has different terrain conditions, natural landscapes and rich traditional cultures of ethnic minorities.
Therefore, most of the villages in the Dong Van highlands can become destinations for domestic and foreign tourists. Currently, some typical cultural villages are widely known to tourists such as: Lung Cam cultural village, Sung La commune; Lo Lo Chai cultural village, Lung Cu commune; Thien Huong ancient village, Dong Van town.
Besides, there are also newly emerging highland villages, attracting tourists to visit and experience. Notable ones are Sao Ha village, Van Chai commune, a village isolated among the vast mountains of cat ear rocks. Or Lao Xa village, a remote village of Sung La commune with pristine landscapes and ancient traditional houses.
One thing that makes it difficult for tourists to explore the highland villages in Dong Van, especially the villages that have not yet developed tourism, is determining the boundaries and locations of the highland villages. The reason is that the villages are all located far from the commune center, there are no signs indicating people, and the population is not concentrated.
Based on that reality, in mid-2024, Dong Van district launched a social movement to build welcome gates to villages. The construction of welcome gates is not mandatory but is carried out by villages discussing with people in the form of: "People discuss, people contribute, people do".
After the campaign was launched, people in villages in 19 communes and towns in Dong Van district responded enthusiastically, contributing money and labor to build the village entrance gate. Village leaders met with people to choose the traditional gate design provided by the district's Economic Infrastructure Department; estimated the construction cost, and on that basis mobilized contributions from the people.
The construction of the village entrance gate in Dong Van district was discussed by the people, and the people contributed money and labor. |
The money contributed by the people is mainly used to buy materials, while the construction of the welcome gate is done by the villages mobilizing human resources from people with construction skills.
Thanks to the response of the people, up to now, all 225 villages in the highlands of Ha Giang have built welcome gates from socialized capital, each welcome gate is worth an average of 20 million VND or more.
In addition to building welcome gates to villages, Dong Van district has also mobilized communes and towns to mobilize socialized organizations and individuals to contribute money to build welcome gates to the centers of communes and towns.
The entrance gates to villages in the mountainous district of Dong Van not only help tourists identify the place, making it more convenient for sightseeing and exploration, but are also a source of pride and a symbol of traditional culture for the local people. There are even beautiful village gates that become check-in points for tourists.
