More schools announce review of transcripts
Vietnam Women's Academy has just issued a plan for regular university enrollment in 2025. This year, the school plans to enroll 1,765 students for 11 majors with 6 admission methods.
Notably, with method 3 of considering academic records, the academy will consider the academic results of all 3 years of grades 10, 11 and 12. It is expected that this method will open for registration from May 2025.
In addition, regarding the admission combinations, the school uses the combinations A00, A01, C00, D01, D09, D14 and may add some more combinations for each major after the official admission announcement.
Foreign Trade University has announced its enrollment plans for 2025. Accordingly, the school will consider the transcripts of 3 years of high school for candidates participating in the national science and technology competition; winning third prize or higher in the city-level competition for excellent students; and students of specialized schools.
Candidates can use the average score of 6 semesters of 3 subjects in the combination; or combine it with an international language certificate (from 6.5 IELTS or equivalent). When considering the combination, the certificate score will be converted, replacing the English subject.
In 2025, Hanoi Law University plans to enroll about 2,650 students. The school plans to continue to consider admission based on the academic records of grades 10, 11, and 12 according to specific combinations for each major and consider converting international language certificates.
The University of Commerce has recently proposed admission methods, including admission based on the transcripts of candidates studying for 3 years in grades 10, 11, and 12 at specialized high schools nationwide/national key high schools, graduating in 2025 according to each subject group for admission.
Hanoi University of Industry also considers the three-year high school scores of three subjects in the combination, but not independently like last year, but combines international certificates, excellent student awards, Hanoi National University's ability assessment test scores, or Hanoi University of Science and Technology's thinking assessment.
Note the competition rate
In 2025, university admissions are expected to have many changes. According to the draft admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), if considering academic records, schools must use a combination of at least 3 subjects, including Math or Literature with a proportion of one-third or more of the total score. Schools must also use the results of the entire 12th grade year, instead of using scores from 3-5 semesters as in previous admissions seasons.
In addition, the Ministry of Education and Training plans to tighten early admission to 20% of the target instead of having no control as before.
Last year, in terms of considering transcripts, the admission score of Vietnam Women's Academy was highest in the Multimedia Communications major with 25.5 points; the lowest was in the Gender and Development major with 19 points.
Speaking with reporters of Dai Doan Ket Newspaper, Dr. Nguyen Phi Long, Head of Training Department of Vietnam Women's Academy, informed that the expected admission score by considering academic records in 2025 will be at least as low as in 2024.
With the Ministry of Education and Training's expected 2025 enrollment regulations, Dr. Nguyen Phi Long said that the competition rate for admission by considering academic records this year will increase. Therefore, candidates and parents should calculate, consider, and carefully research the enrollment information of schools when choosing this admission method.
Regarding concerns about the fairness of the method of considering transcripts, Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung - Deputy Head of the Department of Communications and Admissions of the University of Commerce said that in previous years, the group of candidates admitted based on transcripts all had good academic results.
According to Mr. Trung, with the admission method based on academic records, the school combines other criteria such as foreign language certificates... Considering academic records along with criteria, conditions, and thresholds to ensure input quality helps the school tighten student quality, ensuring fairness between groups of candidates.
