Regarding the socio-economic situation, a representative of the Provincial People's Committee Office said that according to the announcement of the General Statistics Office, the province's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the first quarter of 2025 is estimated to increase by 5.36% over the same period in 2024. Of which, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 3.53%; the industry and construction sector increased by 3.51%; the service sector increased by 9.35%; product tax minus product subsidies increased by 5.42%; some socio-economic indicators achieved quite well compared to the plan, increasing over the same period.

Thus, the growth rate in the first quarter did not meet expectations, so the province set a target of striving for a growth rate of 9% or more in the remaining quarters of the year to compensate. This is completely reasonable when many key projects will be inaugurated and started, creating momentum to promote economic development.

“More clearly, the rate of public investment disbursement is accelerating, reaching the same rate as the entire first quarter in just half of April,” said Mr. Nguyen Duc Thanh, Director of the Department of Finance.

Mr. Hua Minh Huu, Deputy Head of the Economic Zone Management Board, informed about the construction progress and investment attraction results in Nam Can Economic Zone.

Regarding the issue of merging communes and dissolving district level, Mr. Ho Trung Viet said that the locality has planned options and is continuing to submit them to the Central Government for decision.

“This week, in Ca Mau, the Standing Committees of the Provincial Party Committees of Ca Mau and Bac Lieu provinces will meet and discuss the plan to merge the provinces,” informed Mr. Ho Trung Viet.

Regarding solutions to deal with the news that the US will impose high tariffs on key local export products, Mr. Nguyen Chi Thien, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said that in the worst case scenario of high tariffs in this market, the province is expanding its market to find outlets for export products, as the locality is leading the country in implementing FTAs.
